UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women Ethiopia Country Office (ECO) works with key partners ranging from government, UN organisations, international and national NGOs, and civil society in development and humanitarian settings to enhance gender equality and empowerment of women in Ethiopia. In crisis settings, UN Women supports in the coordination of gender mainstreaming, evidence-based response, targeted programming and in building capacities of humanitarian stakeholders including governments and local actors to achieve their gender commitments. In line with this, ECO is supporting national, regional and local women’s rights organizations to amplify their voices in humanitarian action. UN Women Ethiopia is seeking a national consultant to implement its humanitarian programme. In December 2022, the consultant will plan and facilitate a workshop for local women’s rights organizations (WROs) and women-led organizations (WLOs) to discuss and share the needs they have identified in humanitarian action and decision-making. The aim is to compile a Charter of Demands, an advocacy document that will support humanitarian partners in addressing women’s and women’s rights organizations’ concerns in humanitarian programming and decision-making. The consultant will also draft the Charter of Demands. The consultant will also develop a training package on the humanitarian architecture and deliver this training to WLOs and WROs engaged in the humanitarian response in Amhara and Afar tentatively in December 2022 and January 2023. As a follow up and subsequently to each humanitarian architecture training, the consultant will also organize and facilitate policy dialogue events for local WLOs/WROs and humanitarian cluster partners in Amhara and Afar. The consultant will conduct the work remotely and meet regularly with the UN Women humanitarian programme team. The consultant will be required to travel to North Wello Zone in Amhara region as well as to Afar. |

Duties and Responsibilities |

Under the direct supervision of the Gender in Humanitarian Action Programme Specialist at UN Women Ethiopia, the national consultant(s) will undertake the following tasks:
