TEAM/PROGRAMME: Integrated Life-saving Health, WASH, MPCA, Agriculture, Nutrition, and Protection Support.

LOCATION:   Guradamole woreda of Bale

GRADE: 4A

CONTRACT LENGTH: 9 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:  – 

Th The position holder shall be in charge of technical quality implementation and delivery of the mobile health and Nutrition services in the assigned woreda. S/He will mainly be responsible for the daily implementation of the screening, OTP, consultation, outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood and child health as per the guideline of Oromia RHB mobile health and Nutrition teams. In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide supervision, technical assistance and capacity building to health extension workers and Health workers in health facilities. She/He will be responsible for the daily implementation of mobile health and Nutrition services package as per the standard, supporting health facilities assigned as integrated mobile health & Nutrition modality and daily dispensary and drug supply management

JOB SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Coordinate mobile health and nutrition response package in assigned woreda with excellent liaise with primary health care unit directorate.
  2. Responsible to establish and lead effective mobile health and nutrition team in assigned woreda.
  3. Responsible for multi sectoral initial rapid assessment data collection and analysis when needed.
  4. Responsible to represent and advocate key project deliverables and outcome brought by the organization in assigned woreda.
  5. Responsible to prepare project detail implementation plan and procurement plan.
  6. Responsible to prepare project detail implementation plan and procurement plan.
  7. Prepare terms of reference (TOR), organize and facilitate training, review meeting and draw best lessons/practice.
  8. Ensure key accountability issues addressed during the implementation of project deliverables.
  9. Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis health, immunization, and health and nutrition services.
  10. Conduct & undertake PHC like consultation & provide proper treatment based on the protocol.
  11. Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between community and the woreda health bureaus.
  12. Plan and implement project outlined in the protocol for OTP and SC to achieve objectives of the project.
  13. The health and nutrition Officer will help facilitate admission of the patient at the OTP, and SC.
  14. Ensure each admitted child receives adequate and quality clinical and nutritional care through existing resources.
  15. Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and clinical requirements – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment’s, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.
  16. Assisting the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community.
  17. Capacitate the competency of Health Extension workers in delivery of compressive primary health care service at health post.
  18. Perform other extra duties as required
  19. Reports any problems in a timely manner to the program manager

MINIMUM QUALFICATION AND EXPEREINCE

  • BSC/Diploma in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above).
  •  Minimum four years working experience for BSC and six years’ experience for Diploma holders out of which two year experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields

  • Knowledge, training and experience in CMAM  and community mobilization/BCC
  • Demonstrated skills in peer group training,
  • Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
  • Fluency in spoken and written, English and Local language Afan oromo.
  • Strong computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
