Job Purpose:

The Nutrition MEAL Officer is responsible for coordinating, designing, and implementing MEAL systems for Nutrition/TSFP and other WFP-funded or other donor-funded nutrition projects within operational areas, ensuring effective planning, monitoring, quality assurance, and performance evaluation in line with World Vision standards and donor requirements. The role promotes data-driven decision-making, accountability to affected populations, and continuous learning by overseeing data collection, analysis, reporting, and utilization to improve program quality and track nutritional outcomes. Working closely with program and partner teams, the officer ensures effective implementation of the full project cycle while enhancing transparency, beneficiary feedback systems, and adaptive programming. The position also upholds World Vision’s Christian values by fostering integrity, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement in nutrition programming.

 Major Responsibilities:

Ensure Functionality of MEAL Systems and Program Accountability

  • Ensure the implementation and functionality of WFP (Food & cash) MEAL System in assigned WFP operational areas and ensure Program Accountability

Planning, Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement MEAL plans, conduct regular field monitoring and periodic evaluations, and produce timely and quality weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, terminal reports/Project end reports for WFP-supported woredas/camps in line with donor and government requirements.

Coordinate and Actively Engage in Surveys:

  • Coordinate PDMs, Data Quality Assessments, and baseline, mid-term, and final evaluations for WFP-supported food and cash assistance programs, ensuring accurate data collection, validation, and resolution of inconsistencies in the field.

Learning & documentation:

  • Support the Learning and documentation through preparing Success Stories, sharing documents, presentations, etc. in coordination with program implementation team)
  • Participate in designing and implementation of studies, assessments and learning in coordination and cooperation with other program staff.

 

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:   

  • MA/MSc or BA/BSc Degree in Public Health/Nursing, Agriculture, Nutrition, Development studies, Biostatistics, M&E, Disaster Management, Rural Development, social sciences and relates fields
Required Professional Experience:
  • 3-5 Years of experience in Emergency response programs, food Assistance programs, disaster mitigation and development related fields with a minimum of 2 years’ experience on a similar position.
  • Experience in project planning and implementation.
  • Skilled in data analytics, tool development, and monitoring & evaluation of projects.
  • Experienced in training or teaching adults and working with multi-cultural groups.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and working understanding on Emergency Food resource management;
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the team with similar scope of work;
  • Experience in food assistance programing, Grants/project management, Market assessment and Analysis, Cash transfer programing, project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
  • Good understanding of humanitarian standards
  • Good knowledge of local context
  • INGO experience
  • Ability to work in high tension and high security risk situations
  • Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment
