Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization that has been implementing child sponsorship and community development programs in Ethiopia for the past 27 years, since 1997. GNE is a Korea-based organization re-registered in Ethiopia as a charity organization with Certificate No. 1135 and operates in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Agency for Civil Society Organizations.

Job Summary

Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE), in collaboration with Simeret SACCO, is seeking a highly qualified, integrity-driven, and results-oriented SACCO Manager. The Manager will be responsible for leading the overall operations of Simeret SACCO, ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and effective savings mobilization and credit services for GNE IGA beneficiaries.

Position Title: Manager – Simeret SACCO

Reports to: Simeret SACCO Board of Directors & GNE IGA Department

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Employment Type: One- year Contract with possibility of extension based on performance

Number Required: one (1)

Salary and Benefits: as per the organizations scale

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the SACCO, including savings mobilization, loan appraisal, disbursement, and recovery.
  • Ensure the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) is maintained below 5% through strong credit appraisal, monitoring, and follow-up mechanisms.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS Cooperative Proclamations, and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with cooperative laws, policies, and directives issued by the cooperative commission.
  • Represent the SACCO during internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Provide leadership to SACCO staff, build their capacity, and promote a culture of accountability and transparency.
  • Work closely with GNE’s IGA Department to align SACCO services with beneficiaries’ business development needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: BA/MA Business management ,Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Cooperative Leadership, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the financial and cooperative sector.
    • At least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role within a SACCO or financial institution.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of Sacco and Management.
    • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Integrity & Ethics:
    • Proven high ethical standards with no history of financial mismanagement or misconduct.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
    • Experience working with cooperatives or community-based financial institutions is an asset.
