Job Description
An exciting vacant position has arisen at East Africa Bottling Share Company – Ethiopia for the role of Maintenance Controller. Key Purpose Statement
To ensure optimal plant reliability, asset care, and operational efficiency through effective maintenance planning, execution, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and support the asset care plan for the plant
- Build technical competencies within engineering and operations teams
- Drive predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs
- Ensure adherence to engineering change management procedures
- Monitor asset care compliance and support audit requirements
- Control maintenance budgets including spares and asset care costs
- Ensure execution of technical gap closure plans
- Ensure high plant reliability and equipment uptime
- Oversee execution and quality of all maintenance activities
- Verify availability of required spares, tools, and resources
- Lead problem-solving activities and root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with maintenance planning and execution schedules
- Develop and manage maintenance cost plans and CAPEX budgets
- Review plant performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Analyze failure modes and eliminate recurring equipment breakdowns
- Support continuous improvement and plant optimization initiatives
- Evaluate new equipment and recommend improvements
- Lead and manage the maintenance team (MAS)
- Set team goals, conduct performance reviews, and coach team members
- Identify training needs and drive competency development and multi-skilling
- Manage contractors and ensure service delivery meets standards
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and legal requirements
- Enforce LOTO, electrical safety, machine safeguarding, and high-risk work procedures
- Conduct risk assessments (JSA/JHA/HIRA) and planned job observations
- Ensure safe execution of confined space, hot work, and work-at-height activities
- Maintain housekeeping standards and safe working environments
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Develop and implement policies within area of responsibility
- Ensure policy communication, adherence, and continuous improvement
- Manage employee performance, discipline, and development
- Conduct performance reviews and align team goals with business priorities
- Ensure compliance with safety standards including PPE usage and hazardous work control
- Manage maintenance waste and environmental compliance
- Ensure all maintenance documentation, permits, and records are maintained accurately

Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing environment
