Background

Amhara women’s Association /AWA/ is a nonprofit, nonpolitical and non-religious civic organization established in 1998 to empower women and girls socially and economically in Amhara regional state including Addis Ababa city administration.

AWA is launching twelve /12 -month project with funding secured from UN-OCHA to support internally displaced people and vulnerable house hold in North Shoa Zone, Merhabetie woreda and Shoa Robit town. This initiative aims to provide humanitarian assistance that strengthens protection outcomes, focusing on Protection and CP-GBV interventions. The project reduces protection risks for conflict-affected women, girls, children, and other vulnerable groups through survivor-centered case management, MHPSS, safe referrals, dignity kits and targeted cash for protection, ensuring safe and dignified access to life-saving services and, ultimately safeguarding their dignity and rights. The project will be carried out in North Shoa Zone, Merhabetie woreda and Shoa Robit town. In relation to this AWA looking for a competent and dedicated full time M & E officer.

Job Summary:

The GBV Monitoring and Evaluation Officer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities of GBV programs. The officer ensures quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and documentation of GBV interventions in line with donor requirements, humanitarian standards, and ethical principles guiding GBV programming

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitoring and Data Management

• Systematize and ensure implementation of data quality assurance mechanisms into the AWA M&E framework as well as activities.
• Regularly collect and compile data on targets of each indicator to measure achievement against performance indicators at all levels.
• Ensure validity, reliability, precision, integrity, and timeliness of information through quality checks and implementation of corrective actions to improve data quality and accountability of project team including technical assistants.
• Develop and maintain GBV monitoring tools, databases, and tracking systems.

• Ensure accurate and timely data entry, storage, and confidentiality of GBV-related information.

• Conduct routine data quality assessments (DQAs) and field monitoring visits.

• Support the implementation of GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS) tools where applicable
• Support in extracting lessons learned from monitoring, assessments, and evaluations for course adjustment and continuous performance improvement.
• Facilitate training/mentorship to the relevant staff and technical assistants on Monitoring and Evaluation, Performance Management, and on data responsibilities and operational usage of tools developed through the project.

• Attend relevant meetings, coordination platforms organized by AWA regional office and Donor.
• Deliver additional tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.

2. Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, donor reports and activity info reports.
• Produce statistical summaries, dashboards, and data visualization products.
• Support proposal development through provision of baseline and indicator data.
• Document lessons learned, success stories, case studies, and best practices.
• Ensure reports are submitted on time and meet donor and organizational standards

Job requirement and qualification

3.1. Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or B.A degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, program & project management, economics, development economics, psychology, sociology, social work, public health, gender & development, gender & economics, Demography, Statistics and other related social science studies.
3.2. Working experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years for master’s degree and five (5) years for B A degree with demonstrated coordination and managerial experience in project planning, implementation, and at least 3 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning within the local and international NGO and Governmental projects.
    • Experience in UN agencies funded GBV prevention project at regional and woreda level.
    • Experience in GBVIMS and humanitarian data management systems is an asset.
    • Experience in evidence synthesis and analysis for program and intervention design
    • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, promote team work and effort
    • Strong training and meeting facilitation skill is required
    • Experience of working with civil society organizations, and familiarity with the local context, culture, and language is desirable

3.3. Language

  • Have good writing and oral communication skills, including presentation both English and local languages.

    • Highly committed to serve communities at grassroots level.
    • Excellent computer skill and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and email communication.
