Job Description

The Logistics Assistant will support the logistics operations of Geneva Global Ethiopia by ensuring efficient supply chain processes, managing inventory, and assisting with transportation coordination. This role is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and supporting program delivery.

 

Reports to: Logistic Coordinator

Location: Addis Ababa

Key Responsibilities

The Logistic Assistant is responsible for:

  • Inventory Management: Assisting in tracking and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
  • Procurement Support: Helping with the procurement process to secure necessary supplies and materials.
  • Transportation Coordination: Aiding in the scheduling and coordination of transport for program-related goods.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensuring all logistics activities comply with organizational policies and local regulations.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with program teams to understand logistics needs and assist in implementing solutions.

Major Activities and Tasks:

The Logistic Assistant will perform, coordinate, and/or support the following activities:

Inventory Management:

  • Assisting in conducting regular inventory counts and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting the organization of storage facilities to ensure optimal space utilization.

Procurement Support:

  • Assisting in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers.
  • Helping to process purchase orders and manage suppliers.

Transportation Coordination:

  • Coordinating the logistics of transporting goods, including scheduling deliveries and maintaining transportation records.
  • Assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of vehicles.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensuring proper documentation is maintained for all logistics operations.
  • Assisting in conducting audits to verify compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Collaboration:

  • Providing logistical support to program teams as needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and documentation related to logistics activities.
    The Logistic Assistant may also perform other duties as assigned by the Logistic Coordinator.

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Possess effective communication skills in both spoken and written English.
  • Work well in a team-oriented environment, showing initiative and professionalism
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure.

Qualification Summary:

Education:

  • BA Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Experience in the NGO sector is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of logistics software is an advantage
