About ASDEPO:

Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged indifferent thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health/HIV and AIDS/RH, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Wash), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromiya, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, SNNPR and Somali Region.

Job Description

  • Organizes and also participates in livestock vaccination programs of the project.
  • Establishes voucher based veterinary drugs distribution system.
  • Participates in distribution of vouchers and makes sure that every beneficiary has got them.
  • Facilitates distribution of veterinary instruments and equipment to the chosen beneficiary veterinary clinics.
  • Coordinates and also participates in distribution of veterinary medicaments to beneficiaries.
  • Makes sure that all selected beneficiary pastoralists and agro-pastoralists are getting the necessary veterinary and animal feed support of the project
  • Facilitates and also participates in receipt, storage, proper transportation and distribution of vaccines, veterinary medicaments and animal feed to beneficiaries.
  • Trains and also participates in organizing all training programs of the project.
  • Participates in joint monitoring activities concerning the project.
  • Facilitates and supports implementation of drought response activities in addition to the technical support to the pastoral bureau of the region.
  • Provide emergency drought management and recovery response to woreda livestock office and authorized accountable drought response coordination body with a primary focus on livestock assessments, response planning and coordination.
  • Carries out analysis of impacts of the drought and drought response and produce high-quality monthly analysis that will be shared with the Regional Government-led humanitarian platforms to support enhanced decision-making,
  • Supports organizing monthly livestock coordination meetings for stakeholders involved in livestock drought response to share their operational experience and to avoid duplication.
  • Contributes to the development and up-dating of woreda livestock sector drought response plans,
  • Organizes and conducts capacity building and skill trainings as required. 
  • Coordinates and also participates in conducting livestock sector – drought assessments, and response planning acivities.
  • Prepares all reports in time and makes sure that they are sent to the appropriate stakeholders and parners.
  • Accomplished other activities related to ASDEPO and the project when assigned.

Employment Type: Contract for one year

Contract duration: Until December 31, 2023

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • At least three years’ work experience at technical or on a similar project.
  • Required level of education: DVM or MSc Degree in Veterinary Medicine, BSc or MSc Animal Science or BSc or MSc in Agricultural Economics or Rural Development.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills are required; statistical skills are an advantage.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, Amharic and other local language.
