Job Description

The PATH Livelihood Officer serves in a role similar to a social worker, and their primary responsibility is mentoring the single mothers/female guardians of PATH’s child beneficiaries. This mentorship includes financial guidance, household economics, and coaching, as expounded upon below.

The PATH Livelihood Officer is expected to perform duties and responsibilities including the following:

Beneficiary Selection:

  • Participate in beneficiary selection and admission
  • Assess and investigate the eligibility of the beneficiaries according to set criteria
  • Interview and review beneficiary background information and properly document it in the beneficiary intake form

Women Beneficiary Mentorship and Oversight:

  • Provide financial coaching and consulting to beneficiaries including home-to-home visits and center one-on-one sessions
  • Supervise and assist with women’s empowerment activities
  • Organize women into Self Help Groups and facilitate weekly meetings
  • Assist in providing business skills and capacity building trainings
  • Mentor and assist women beneficiaries as they develop business ideas, market analysis, and plans of action while they complete their training
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and facilitate market linkage
  • Track women’s development progress
  • Visit women in their places of work when they begin their businesses

 General Responsibilities:

  •  Conduct quarterly follow-up assessments
  • Perform regular follow ups of activities, maintain accurate records/documentation, and prepare relevant reports
  • Coordinate with social worker to share relevant family information
  • Perform other duties to be assigned by the program manager or management

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years NGO experience
  • High Proficiency in Afan Oromo and Amharic
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to write detailed reports in English
  • Ability to communicate by email
  • Basic understanding of household economics

Educational Requirement: BA or above in sociology, anthropology, social work, business administration, or related fields
