Organizational overview
Founded over 80 years ago, Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organizations with no religious, political or governmental affiliations. Plan International works in more than 70 countries around the world, including Ethiopia, to empower communities, families and children to advance their wellbeing and equality for girls. Child sponsorship is the basic foundation of the organization.
We believe in the power and potential of every child specifically girls as they are the most affected. However, this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
Plan International’s programs in Ethiopia focus on Child Protection, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food and Economic Security, Humanitarian Response and Resilience Building that we implement in Amhara, Oromia , Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ (SNNP), Gambella, Afar and Benishangul-Gumuz Regional States and Addis Ababa City Administration. Common to these, issues of gender and disability are also integrated and mainstreamed in all programs
Focus of the call
ET-RRM project is a rapid response project that started implementation on November 1, 2024, in Ethiopia to respond to acute onset emergencies nation-wide. This call for expression of Interest (EOI) is issued to identify potential implementing partners within an effort to addressing the potential needs of communities who may be affected by crises in the Amhara and B/Gumuz region, during the period from December 1, 2024, to March 31, 2026. The response to these needs will be shaped by the specific nature and severity of the crises that may occur, but it is anticipated that a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach will be required to effectively respond to the diverse challenges that may be faced by the affected population. Selected potential implementing partners will be pre-positioned for an event where rapid response will be required within days of a crisis occurring.
