Laboratory Technician (2 Positions)

About Us:

Fayyaa Integrated Development Organization (FIDO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, Non-Governmental Organization established in 2002 by a group of volunteers in the Jimma zone of Oromia Regional State. Initially founded to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic, FIDO has expanded its focus to include prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), care and support for orphan and vulnerable children (OVC), and various health projects such as malaria control and reproductive health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform hematological, biochemical, microbiological, and other routine diagnostic tests.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable reporting of laboratory results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Properly collect, handle, label, and store patient samples in accordance with standard procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Implement and follow infection prevention and control protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain proper documentation of test results, quality control logs, and laboratory records.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Identify and report abnormal or critical results promptly to the relevant healthcare provider.
• Participate in inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.

Licensure:

• Valid professional license and registration with the appropriate regulatory body.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical or hospital laboratory experience.

Languages:

• Fluency in Afan Oromo and Amharic is required.
