Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) implements multiple projects focusing on promoting priority health behaviors on malaria; RMNCH; Nutrition; FP; and Zoonotic diseases risk communication. CCP has recently obtained grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to undertake implementation research to achieve: to generate cost-effective, scalable and sustainable strategies, to increase uptake and adherence to IFA/MMS among pregnant women aged 15-49 years and adolescent girls aged 10-19 years in rural areas and to generate implementation evidence on how to deliver those strategies at scale in Ethiopia. The project will be implemented in eight selected woredas of Amhara and SNNP regions for three years.

The Knowledge Management Officer will work under the guidance of the BMGF project Director and Senior Researcher. His/her main objective is to support the practices with knowledge management activities, including designing and managing dashboards, and data management tools that facilitate learnings. S/he will be responsible for supporting the project’s human-centered design process which will include documentation and reporting.

Knowledge Management Officer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support team members in planning, conducting, and documenting a human-centered design process to increase adherence to nutritional supplementation
  • Develop knowledge management mechanisms such as data management tools and a dashboard that facilitate learnings
  • Document program and scale up processes as part of the Scalability Framework of the project
  • Document project successes and challenges
  • Provide the project team with relevant and timely resources and references
  • Periodically collect surveillance data, analyze and use for programing
  • Propose and promote creative solutions for knowledge management
  • Assist data analysis of the project baseline and endline evaluations
  • Attend meetings and workshops and gather learnings
  • Assist in maintenance of data quality
  • Document project performance data, reports, and other relevant resources
  • Provide support to implementation team, as necessary,
  • Carry out other technical or program tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Reports To: BMGF Project Director

Duration of Employment:  1 year with possible extension

Required no. 1 (one)

Location of position:  Addis Ababa with frequent field trip to project

Job Requirements

 Knowledge, skills and experience required

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Data management, M&E or other related fields;
  • Prior experience working on knowledge management; database design
  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience
  • Significant NGO experience
  • Proficiency in using statistical software: SPSS, STATA, Access database & at least one qualitative data analysis software
  • Proficiency in English and other local language
  • Ability to facilitate communication between various levels of management and work independently in order to meet deadlines

  •  Nutrition related prior experience
  • Monitoring related prior experience
  • English documentation related prior experience
