Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Auto Electrician. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle electrical and electronic systems to ensure the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of fleet vehicles.
Key Purpose Statement
To ensure the efficient operation of vehicle electrical and electronic systems through effective diagnosis, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical components, battery systems, wiring systems, and electronic controls.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Electrical System Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical and electronic faults.
- Inspect, test, and maintain vehicle electrical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical components to ensure reliability.
Battery Systems
- Service, maintain, and test vehicle battery systems.
- Diagnose battery, charging, and starting system faults.
- Replace defective batteries and related components as required.
Wiring Installation & Testing
- Install, inspect, and test vehicle wiring systems and electrical circuits.
- Repair damaged wiring harnesses and electrical connections.
- Ensure all installations comply with quality and safety standards.
Electronic Controls & Diagnostics
- Overhaul, service, and repair vehicle electronic and electrical control systems.
- Conduct diagnostic testing using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Replace faulty electrical and electronic components as necessary.
Workshop Operations
- Maintain electrical tools and diagnostic equipment in good working condition.
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- Diploma (10+3/Level IV) in Auto Electricity, Electrical Technology, or a related field of study.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience as an Auto Electrician.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems.
- Knowledge of battery systems and electrical circuits.
- Competence in installation and testing of wiring systems.
- Experience in overhauling and servicing electronic/electrical control systems.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Additional Requirement
- Valid driving license is advantageous.
