Position:                                 Junior Accountant  (Internal/External)

Duty Station:                         Shebedino, Angacha and Diga 

Duration of Contract:          One-year contract, renewable (with 60 days Probation)

Salary:                                    As per the salary scale of the organization

Closing date:                         July 30, 2022

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Finance Officer, the Junior Accountant is responsible to ensure all cash transactions necessary for effective office running including petty cash management, support cash related project deliverables and maintaining documentation as per FHE financial policies and regulations.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process payments and documents such as Petty cash, Check payment authorization, journal vouchers, monthly vehicle log sheet, employee medical reimbursements;

2. Follow up the project procurement procedure and assists purchase committee on any goods and service purchase.

3. Assist the SFO in preparation of monthly staff payroll

4. Conduct monthly cash and Fuel coupon count

5. Follow up and liquidate program and purchase advances regularly

6. Follow up timely liquidations of staff travel advance

7. Makes sure accurate stock record is in place and reconciles on a monthly basis as appropriate

8. Follow up vendor advances and other receivables and ensure timely clearance of vendor outstanding items, taking corrective follow up actions where required;

9. Prepare list of bank signatory and update regularly

10. Provide assistance to all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc;

11. Perform other related duties as required.

SAFETY AND SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;
• Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;
• Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;
• Encourages staffs to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human Resources.
GENDER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide adequate time to staff to participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.
• Through observation, interviews, and spot-checks, ensure that the staff planning, Implementation, monitoring and Evaluation process is gender sensitive.
• Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issues.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
A) EDUCATION/TRAINING
• B.A Degree in Accounting & Finance with at least two-years relevant work experience.
• Previous experience in NGO Setting is preferred.
B)  EXPERIENCE
• At least two years of experiences relevant to the post
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
C) TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, working area language (Amharic)     and other local languages
• Sensitivity to different aspects of diversity (cultural, religious, disability), firm belief in teamwork.
• Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills
• Computer skills (word, Excel);
D) COMPETENCIES
• Initiating action, communicating with impact, innovation, building partnership, facilitating change,  adaptability.
