About NALA

NALA aims to break the poverty cycle by eradicating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and other diseases of poverty. The NALA holistic approach tackles the root causes of diseases, leading to sustainable impact and poverty reduction. We aim to achieve our mission by: Assisting regional, national and international actors in designing and implementing programs for controlling NTDs and other diseases of poverty, using community engagement and health education for behavioral change.

  • Researching, developing and testing new NTD control modalities and tools.
  • Advocating for holistic NTD control models with stakeholders and decision makers that promote behavioral change.

 

About You

Key roles/responsibilities

The post holder will be in charge of these key areas of responsibilities. 

  • Follow the organization’s policies, procedures, and donor compliance and documentation requirements.
  • Travel to different regions managing payments (70% of his/her time)
  • Manage all payments on field level, per diem, hotel…and ensure all receipts documents appropriate
  • Assist the administration and procurement as well as logistics activities of NALA Ethiopia office.
  • Disburse or receive authorized cash or bank payments and receipts.
  • Ensure all required documents are attached; calculations are correct, appropriate approvals and reviews made before payment of any cash or bank payments.
  • Match invoices/receipts with payment vouchers, GRN and other required documents.
  • Ensure all income taxes, withholding taxes and other taxes are withheld and paid accordingly.
  • Keep all finance documents and reports are properly filed, labelled and stored in a clear and easily accessible manner.
  • Provide administrative support to staff members.
  • Keep vital documents, major contracts and partners’ information and manage the filing, storage and security of documents
  • Arrange and coordinate meetings & conferences.
  • Keep record of employees’ annual leave and employment contracts.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to take new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time.

Competencies:

  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Peachtree and Internet.
  • Good at multi-tasking, comfortable working under tight deadlines and managing competing priorities.
  • Fluent in both English and Amharic, and is able to communicate freely in both (written and orally).
  • Has good writing skills.
  • Has no reservation on travelling.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Finance and Administration areas, preferably in international organizations.
  • University BA degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • IPSAS and accounting related trainings is a plus

2. Communication Officer | Addis Ababa (Deadline: January 15, 2025)

Job Description

Summary

The Communications Officer will be responsible for planning and creation of all communication materials, reports and lead in the documentation of program activities for NALA Ethiopia. The Communications Officer will create content for internal and external communication and contribute to the organizational communication goals and objectives. With various programs implemented across Ethiopia , the Communication Officer will be a key person in understanding and tracing the impact of these interventions and showcasing them to internal and external stakeholders in accordance with the communication strategy of the organization. This role requires creativity, good communication skills (both written and verbal), an eye for details, flexibility and the ability to work closely with different teams, in different parts of the country as well as external stakeholders.

About You

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the NALA Ethiopia and headquarter (HQ) team to develop a wide range of content that aligns with NALA’s organizational priorities.
  • Lead in story, photo and video asset collection and development to  support overall organizational visibility, reporting and fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the HQ team to support global communication materials, aligning all materials with organization branding guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance and editorial support to project managers and other team members in production of supplementary materials , including success stories and best practices highlighting program activities and achievements.
  • Support the development, editorial, design and production of high-quality communications, including organization’s reports, presentations, brochures, photobooks, newsletters etc in conjunction with the HQ communication team.
  • Travel with the program team to document program activities, events, outcomes and project impact on a wide range of stakeholders.
  • While documenting and collecting communication materials ensure that consent processes, cultural sensitivity, and dignity of participants have been maintained in accordance with the code of conduct of the organization.
  • In line with the organization’s communication strategy, and working closely with project managers,  develop a communication plan to be  implemented alongside all programs in NALA Ethiopia.
  • Build the capacity of staff on basic communication skills such as writing case studies, creating presentations, photography, and videography to enhance their reporting skills.
  • Provide timely updates and briefings to the relevant staff members in Ethiopia and Headquarters, ensuring clear and precise communication.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to take new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time.

Competencies

  • Exceptional English writing and editing skills. Professional proficiency in Amharic is a must.
  • Attention to detail– A keen eye for format, design, and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills- Ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills– Cultural sensitivity, effective communication with various stakeholders, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong team player- Ability to work independently and in a team, adapting well to changing priorities and duties.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in communications-related subjects and at least three years work experience in the field.
  • Experience in development of communication materials is a must.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office and Google Drive is a must. Skills in Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and  Canva are an advantage.
  • Graphic design experience is an advantage.
  • Previous work in NGOs is an advantage

As part of this initiative, we seek to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Data Management Officer to oversee and manage the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data to ensure data quality and integrity across all project activities.

Objective of the Position

The Data Management Officer will be a key member of the M&E team, responsible for ensuring that all project data is efficiently and accurately collected, stored, analyzed and reported using appropriate data management tools, including mWater. The officer will play a key role in managing the project’s large datasets, generating insights for decision-making, and supporting the data needs of the project team. This role requires strong organizational and analytical skills, proficiency in mWater and other data management software and tools, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Oversight:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain data management systems for the different projects.
  • Ensure high-quality data collection and monitoring practices are adhered to across project activities.
  • Manage large datasets, ensuring data is properly cleaned, validated, and archived in line with data protection and confidentiality standards.

mWater System Management:

  • Manage and maintain the mWater platform, ensuring data is accurately captured, analyzed, and reported through this system.
  • Provide training and support to project staff and partners on the use of mWater for data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot any issues related to the mWater platform and coordinate with relevant teams for timely resolution.

Reporting & Data Analysis:

  • Support the analysis and interpretation of data to provide actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Prepare regular data reports, dashboards, and presentations for project teams.
  • Ensure that all project data is compliant with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (MER) requirements.

Capacity Building & Technical Support:

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on data management practices and tools.
  • Organize training sessions for staff and data collectors to enhance their skills in data management, analysis, and reporting.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other project staff, partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth data flows and integration across systems.
  • Ensure that data management activities align with project goals and objectives.

About You

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of professional NGO experience in large-scale data management, preferably in international development or health projects.
  • Experience with managing and analyzing large datasets and using data management software, particularly mWater.
  • Proven experience in overseeing data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting processes.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in data management software and tools, with hands-on experience using mWater and similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and standards.
  • Professional working proficiency in English
