01. IB MYP Design Teacher

For 74 years it operated under the Swedish Embassy as the Swedish Community School before transitioning in 2019 to an independent, not-for-profit international school. Job Description

Kelem International School (KIS) is looking for a qualified, experienced, and energetic IB MYP Design Teacher for an immediate opening. KIS is currently an IB MYP Candidate School actively working towards full IB authorization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teach MYP Design (Digital and Product Design) to secondary students in line with International Baccalaureate principles.
Guide students through the four stages of the IB Design Cycle.
Develop curriculum documents, unit planners, and rubrics required for the school’s IB authorization process.
Maintain a well-organized, safe, and collaborative practical classroom/lab environment.
Regularly evaluate student progress using IB criterion-based assessment rubrics.
Participate in school meetings, professional learning communities, and extracurricular activities as required.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Design Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of teaching experience in a recognized international or private school.

Curriculum Knowledge: Strong background in inquiry-based teaching, project-based learning, and modern technology integration. Direct experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable.

Skills: Excellent classroom management, digital literacy, and strong verbal and written English communication skills.

02. English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher – Middle & High School

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | Deadline: October 24, 2026

JOB SUMMARY

The English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging, student-centered instruction that enhances literacy, fosters critical thinking, and promotes effective communication. The teacher will cultivate a deep appreciation for literature and language while ensuring students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.

Reports to: Team Leader

Coordinates with: Heads, Teaching Staff, Learning Support Department, Curriculum Development Team, and Parents

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm | Friday: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Design: Plan and deliver dynamic, inquiry-based English Language Arts lessons aligned with IB PYP and IB MYP frameworks and international standards.
Literacy & Writing Focus: Guide middle and high school students in text analysis, critical thinking, creative writing, academic essays, research, and effective oral communication.
Assessment & Differentiation: Utilize formative, summative, and performance-based assessments to track progress and provide tailored instruction for diverse learning needs.
Classroom Environment & Tech Integration: Create an inclusive, technology-rich learning environment that encourages student autonomy, digital literacy, and collaborative learning.
Co-Curricular & Community Engagement: Lead school-wide literacy initiatives (e.g., book clubs, writing competitions, speech/drama activities) and maintain active communication with parents and colleagues.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English Language & Literature Education or a related field required; Master’s degree in Education or Curriculum Development preferred.
Experience & Certification: Valid secondary teaching certification with a minimum of 3 years teaching middle or high school English Language Arts.
IB Specialization: Experience teaching within IB PYP and IB MYP frameworks; an IB Category 1 Workshop Certificate is highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies: Fluent command of English (Amharic is an asset), strong cross-cultural communication skills, expertise in differentiated instruction, and a collaborative mindset.
