YADAM Foundation implements a nutrition advocacy and technical assistance program with UNICEF Ethiopia, supporting the national transition of maternal antenatal supplementation from Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) to Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS), in line with WHO’s updated antenatal care guidance.
A successful transition requires a functioning commodity market — reliable supply, efficient procurement, and effective demand generation — collectively known as “market shaping.”

01. MMS Market Shaping Strategy Consultant
- Duration: 6 months

BACKGROUND
This role emphasizes costing, investment cases, and equity analysis to justify increased domestic investment in reducing child food poverty, within the context of Ethiopia’s Food and Nutrition Strategy (2021), N4G commitments, SDGs, the Food Systems Transformation Agenda, the Seqota Declaration, and the Ten-Year Development Plan (2021–2030).
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
YADAM Foundation is seeking an experienced Market Shaping Strategy Consultant to design a comprehensive, costed MMS market shaping and marketing strategy and lead its early-stage implementation, delivering measurable improvements in MMS availability, affordability, provider engagement, and consumer uptake.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Map and assess the MMS/IFA supply landscape, including manufacturers, procurement channels, pricing, and EFDA quality-assurance processes
• Assess consumer awareness, demand, and barriers to MMS uptake and adherence in pilot woredas
• Design a costed market shaping strategy addressing both supply-side (forecasting, procurement, pricing, quality) and demand-side (provider engagement, behavior-change communication) constraints
• Identify opportunities for donor funding, government matching funds, blended finance, and public–private partnerships
• Facilitate validation of the strategy with YADAM leadership, UNICEF, and government counterparts (MoH, EFDA, EPSS)
• Lead early implementation, including piloting a demand-generation approach in one or more regions and building YADAM staff capacity to sustain it
• Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the CEO/Programmed Manager in support of project and organizational objectives
KEY DELIVERABLES
• Inception report and workplan

• Validated MMS Market Shaping Strategy (costed roadmap and monitoring indicators)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, health economics, marketing, or a related field
• 7–10 years of relevant experience, including health commodity market shaping, supply chain strengthening, or nutrition/health product marketing
• Familiarity with MMS/IFA and global market shaping approaches (e.g. UNICEF Supply Division, Nutrition International, Micronutrient Forum)
• Working knowledge of Ethiopia’s health commodity supply system (EPSS) and product regulation (EFDA) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience designing demand-generation, behavior-change, or social marketing approaches for health products

The consultant will design and implement a comprehensive financial landscape review across six priority regions, assessing nutrition financing, public expenditure, and investment gaps.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and deploy assessment tools to track public financing and expenditure related to child nutrition
• Formulate investment cases and cost-benefit projections for child food poverty interventions to inform ministries of finance and regional cabinets
• Analyze financing disparities and equity gaps across the six priority regions
• Provide technical support to regional bureaus on the Nutrition Budget Tagging and Tracking (NBTT) system
• Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the CEO/Programmed Manager in support of project and organizational objectives

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
YADAM Foundation, in partnership with UNICEF, is seeking a Senior Nutrition Specialist Consultant to provide technical leadership on advocacy and evidence-generation activities, translating national commitments (FNS 2021–2030, Seqota Declaration, N4G Paris 2025) into concrete regional policy and action to reduce child food poverty.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical leadership on nutrition-sensitive food systems and agriculture programming, integrating approaches such as crop diversification, homestead gardening, and value chain strengthening
- Align project activities with Ethiopia’s Food and Nutrition Policy/Strategy, Seqota Declaration, N4G commitments, SDGs, and the UNICEF Child Food Poverty Framework
- Synthesize evidence on drivers of child food poverty and malnutrition, and translate findings into policy briefs and advocacy recommendations
- Lead resource mobilization: identify funding opportunities and draft concept notes, technical proposals, budgets, and partnership agreements
- Design and co-facilitate policy dialogues, roundtables, workshops, and multi-stakeholder consultations with government, donors, and communities

- Minimum 5 years of progressive professional experience in agriculture, food systems, or nutrition-sensitive project design and implementation
- Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and resource mobilization, with a track record of successful funding applications
- Experience organizing and facilitating workshops, trainings, or multi-stakeholder meetings
- Familiarity with major donor requirements and procedures (e.g., UN agencies, USAID, EU, foundations) is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s agriculture and food systems policy environment

BACKGROUND
YADAM Foundation is an Ethiopian non-profit delivering nutrition intervention in partnership with government, donors, and communities. As part of its strategy to strengthen financial sustainability and reduce dependency on restricted donor funding, YADAM has identified social enterprise development — unrestricted, mission-aligned income through fee-based services, social-impact products, or income-generating ventures — as a priority growth area.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
YADAM Foundation is seeking an experienced Social Enterprise Strategy Consultant to design a costed and actionable social enterprise strategy and lead its early implementation, diversifying YADAM’s income base without compromising its core nutrition mandate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assess YADAM’s existing assets, capabilities, networks, and market opportunities relevant to social enterprise development
• Identify and shortlist priority social enterprise concepts, with feasibility and risk screening for each
• Design the Social Enterprise Strategy, including business model, governance and financial structuring, 3-year financial projections, and a risk matrix
• Facilitate internal validation and approval with the Senior Management Team and the Board
• Lead the operational set-up and piloting of at least one priority income-generating venture, including financial controls in coordination with Finance
• Build the capacity of designated YADAM staff to sustain the enterprise beyond the consultancy period
KEY DELIVERABLES

• 7–10 years of relevant experience designing and/or launching social enterprises, income-generating activities, or commercial ventures
• Strong understanding of business modeling, financial projections, and costing/pricing for social-impact ventures
• Familiarity with the Ethiopian non-profit regulatory environment and the East African social enterprise landscape
• Prior experience advising NGOs or mission-driven organizations in food systems/nutrition strongly preferred
• Proven track record of leading implementation, not only strategy design
