Job Description

An exciting vacant position has arisen at East Africa Bottling Share Company – Ethiopia for the role of IT Support Engineer.

The position is structured to report to the IT Business Partner.

Key Purpose Statement

To provide reliable, efficient, and secure IT support services across East Africa Bottling Share Company (EABSC) by troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining IT infrastructure and assets, supporting end-users, and ensuring the availability, performance, and compliance of technology systems that enable business operations and continuous productivity.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
  • Perform system maintenance, upgrades, and preventative support activities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support end-users by resolving IT incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure availability and performance.
  • Support LAN/WAN connectivity, TCP/IP networking, wireless networks, and related technologies.
  • Manage and maintain hardware and software asset inventories.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, resolutions, and system changes.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate support teams or vendors when required.
  • Ensure compliance with IT governance, cybersecurity, data protection, and organizational policies.
  • Provide user training and guidance on IT systems and business applications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT service delivery and user experience.

Skills, Experience & Education

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, ITIL v3/v4, or equivalent will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–4 years of relevant experience in IT Support, Service Desk, Infrastructure Support, or a similar role.

Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, operating systems, and network environments.
  • Good understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP protocols, and wireless networking.
  • Experience configuring, repairing, and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Proficiency in installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting enterprise and productivity software.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to provide clear and professional support to end-users.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet service level agreements.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Understanding of information security, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
