TITLE: IT Officer
PROGRAM(S)/ DEPARTMENT(S): USAID/Ethiopia Lowlands Health Activity (USAID/E LHA)
REPORTS TO: Director, Finance & Operations
JOB STATION: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with frequent visits to support regions.

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Officer is responsible to ensure that computer and IT systems of EngenderHealth, Ethiopia Office, USAID/E LHA project run effectively and efficiently providing maximum benefits to users at both central and regional offices of the EngenderHealth Ethiopia office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The IT Officer will also be responsible for other functions such as

  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications for LHA project staffs
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks and introduction of new applications
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults when troubleshooting system and network problems
  • Take lead in the technical evaluation of IT equipment during local procurement processes and advice the local office management accordingly
  • Coordinate with reputable local IT support firms in ensuring scheduled maintenance, repairs, and processing of replacement parts as needed to ensure proper functioning of computing equipment at the office
  • Liaise with the Global Technology Manager in the provisioning request of system accounts for new users. Provide support to project staff by setting up their login profiles on their assigned computers and address any login related issues
  • Provide periodic updates to the Global IT Manager in regard to the support and incidences status at the local office
  • Support project startup and closeout processes by taking electronic backups of work documents and installation works

  • Visit field offices on a regular, scheduled basis, in order to provide on-site maintenance, training, and technical support
  • Train staff in the use of software applications
  • Provide orientation to new staff
  • Become the focal point and local liaison for updating the Intranet pages for the local office LHA project
  • Provide other related support as requested by the immediate supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess the following requirements with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or other equivalent degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science/Engineering or related field
  • minimum of 5 years progressively experience in IT related support services requiring strong understanding of subject specific rules and procedures
  • Proficiency in smooth operation of TCP/IP network, hardware, and software and provided basic assistance to users with access issues
  • Proficiency in the use and support of Windows Server 2016 and later products, Windows 10 and later workstation products
  • Proficiency in the support of VMWare virtualized environment
  • Proficiency in the use and support of Microsoft office 365 collaboration products such as Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint platform, as well as Google products
  • Proven ability in the understanding and implementation of security standards, concepts and best practices in mitigation of cyberattacks and vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive company information
