About the Opportunity

The IT Infrastructure & System Admin Staff will be part of the IT department. As Inkomoko has developed more technology systems to work-from-home and serve our clients remotely, we have needed to increase our ICT capacity to support internal IT functions and client-facing tech programs.

The IT Infrastructure & System Admin Staff main responsibilities will be to build, maintain and provide secure IT structures and, control of the systems responsible for diverse internal IT operations which will involve hardware (Servers), software, and networking in both physical and virtual environments, ensuring the highest level of customer service to colleagues across all our locations in Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Sudan.

This role will involve managing 4 IT Tech staff, based in Kigali, Nairobi, Addis Ababa and Juba.

Responsibilities

Specifically, the role will include:

Systems Administration &  Support (50%)

  • Install, monitor, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Inkomoko’s IT Infrastructure (including Cloud infrastructure) supporting Office 365 applications, ERP support, project management tools, collaboration tools and communication tools.
  • Design, develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance, access and availability of services.
  • Build APIs to allow integration of various digital tools in use now and in future.
  • Manage software licenses in compliance with legal and commercial requirements on behalf of Inkomoko
  • Design and implement and maintain IT security with remote deployment and monitoring.
  • Managing system performance and rectifying any errors that occur within the cloud Converged Infrastructure space.
  • Undertake effective fault management, systems maintenance checks on the system and maintain a log of activities performed. This includes troubleshooting system failures and bugs and providing solutions to restore functionality.
  • Provide Level 2 and 3 technical support to Inkomoko staff virtually or in person, depending on the incident.
  • Undertake planned and ad hoc approved upgrades to the various systems.
  • Review, recommend, procure, configure and install approved hardware, software on the system ensuring value for money.
  • Work with vendors to build and support platform upgrades.
  • Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers.
  • Maintain and manage the repair of IT equipment (e.g. routers, laptops) or peripheral devices and keep updated records of the same.
  • Manage all IT security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks.
  • Plan training schedules and train users on IT Systems and IT equipment use.

Data and Information Management and Protection (40%)

  • Data Management and access control on all data storage solutions and systems.
  • Users account management on all IT systems
  • Manage cloud based business applications to ensure optimal use while ensuring value for money.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.

ICT Policy and Management (10%)

  • Act as the compliance officer for all internal ICT security procedures and working practices as dictated by Inkomoko and also, in line with Government ICT policies.
  • Build and maintain a fully equipped and running back site for Business Continuity in case of emergencies.
  • Lead & Mentor IT Support Tech staff on an ongoing and often formal basis.
  • Assist the supervisor in developing IT SOPs, Policies, Manuals and User guides for the IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Maintain, update and train on the  IT SOPs, Policies, Manuals and User guides.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field
  • Must be proficient in google workspace administration, Office 365, & Server administration.
  • Five + years at Proficient level of administration experience and knowledge of IT Infrastructure  (including cloud)
  • Experience building high availability and performing IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with automated systems, APIs and scripting
  • A solid understanding of Internet based technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, Security, HTTP/HTTPS)
  • Experience setting up cloud environments including AWS and Azure
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, plus either Kinyarwanda or Swahili
  • Professional certifications such as Comptia certifications, Microsoft Certifications, AWS certifications, Linux-based certifications etc.

Working Knowledge of:

  • Windows server administration
  • Active Directory administration w/ GPO
  • Enterprise storage technologies.
  • IT Backup and recovery.
  • IT Project Management.
