Job Description

Position:                       IT Coordinator  (Internal/External)

Duty Station:                Addis Ababa

Duration of Contract: One-year contract, renewable (with 60 working days Probation)

Salary:                          As per the salary scale of the organization

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The IT Coordinator will be responsible for information technology activities both at head office and projects; create and maintains organizational database; Manage all ICT equipment; Manage electronic communication devices; Facilitate repair and maintenance of ICT Equipment; Prepare periodic ICT reports; Organize ICT-related training;

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 – Infrastructure Maintenance and Support

  1. Arranges and perform repair and maintenance activities
  2. Provide quick responses to users’ requests for help, diagnose problems, and provide resolution to staff worldwide using email, phone, remote access software or in-person when available.
  3. Leads and coordinates IT Officer’s tasks.
  4. Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements, monitoring software installation, and utilization
  5. Provide support for business applications (Intune, Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps, etc.)
  6. Monitors proper implementation of FH/E’s ICT Policy
  7. Regularly update organization Antivirus

Key Result #2 – Server Administration

  1. Manage the checkpoint and Paloalto router and access points
  2. Manage user accounts
  3. Manage and administer WAP, NW Printers, Client computers
  4. Create, delete, and update user accounts and access rights

Key Result #3 – Networking

  1. Configures LAN, WLAN, and 4G  connections
  2. Configure new PCs and other hardware and software
  3. Configure Network printers and shared devices
  4. Troubleshoot network problems

Key Result #4 – Database

  1. Handles organization data/information in a secured and updated form
  2. Maintain and manage all IT types of equipment inventory
  3. Manage files and folders both on an online and offline bases
  4. Gives support to ORANGE HRM, Odoo, and other database programs

Key Result #5 – Training and Capacity Building

  1. Handles advanced Training on Networking and maintenance
  2. Handle training on Google Apps, Windows applications, Packages
  3. Conduct technology induction trainings or orientation for new joining staff
  4. Conduct and periodically update training on introduction to computers and the Internet and web services not limited to drive, cyber, skype, etc

Key Result #6 – Others

  1. Regularly communicate with project staff and IT officers
  2. Listen to understand users’ ministry goals and technical needs
  3. Suggest more effective ways for users to accomplish their ministry goals by utilizing technology

Experience

⮚ Minimum of five years of relevant experience on Networking, System Administration, Database Management and IT Support preferably in NGO settings.

Education/Certifications

⮚ BSc Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or Management Information Systems or electrical Engineering or related field of studies

 

Supervisory Responsibility

⮚The position supervises up to three IT Officers at Bahir Dar, Lay Gayint,  & Zeway.

Language

⮚ Proficiency in spoken and written English language.

⮚        Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;

⮚        Visiting project Offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;

⮚        Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures;

⮚        Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members.  If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;

⮚        Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;

⮚ Encourages staff to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are

Gender Responsibilities

⮚        Provide adequate time to staff to participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.

⮚        Through observation, interviews, and spot-checks, ensure that the staff planning process is gender sensitive.

⮚        Build a better gender balance in staffing through affirmative action.

⮚        Observe if women staff are as involved as men in high-profile activities such as interaction with visitors and chairing meetings, and take corrective action if warranted.

⮚        Encourage female staff to participate in external networks (local and regional), as well as seminars and cross visits.

⮚        Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issues.
