Invitation to Bid for Livestock Production and Marketing Assessment

Farm Africa is an international NGO founded in 1985, with a vision to ensure a prosperous rural Africa. It is a specialist development NGO working with smallholder farmers and forest communities, local governments, and the private sector in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The organization is an expert in the fields of agronomy, livestock, natural resources management, and market engagement. With community engagement underpinning our approach, we design and implement sustainable solutions to rural poverty based on evidence and best practices.

Farm Africa wants to invite eligible consultancy firms to conduct study/assessment. The objective of the studies/assessments is to identify and analyze problems and opportunities to design context-based solutions to shape and adapt planning for FSD intervention. The specific objectives of the assignment are as follows: a) Assess livestock grazing impacts and identify options for sustainable and resilient rangeland management; b) Assess opportunities and challenges of livestock production and productivity; c) Assess and identify key problems related to livestock marketing in the Bale eco-region and associated landscapes in Guji and Borena zones.

Job Requirements

  1. Bidders shall submit all the legal documents (renewed Trade License, Registration, TIN, VAT/TOT certificates)
  2. Higher education qualifications in the fields of animal science (veterinary medicine or livestock production), rangeland management, and Natural resource management
  3. Proven track record of conducting assessments/studies related to livestock management, production, productivity, livestock marketing, livestock value chain and product supply chains
  4. Extensive experiences and expertise in the livestock sector, Climate Smart Livestock Management, sustainable forest management, climate change and in rangeland/natural resource management,
  5. Extensive experience in conducting literature reviews and qualitative research including familiarity with participatory research methods
  6. Sound knowledge of Ethiopia’s livestock sector policy and strategies
  7. Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills
  8. Fluency in spoken and written English and sufficient knowledge of the community language.
  9. You shall clearly state their unit price and total price including VAT/ToT in ETB properly signed and stamped.

Bidders shall be submitting their Technical and Financial proposals in two separate envelops duly marked as “Technical” and “Financial” proposals with stamp and signature. The document must be delivered to the email ethprocurement@farmafrica.org on or before 5:00 PM 20 September 2022.

Bid proposals will be opened by Farm Africa Procurement Committee. Winner bidder will be notified whether your proposals are considered based on technical and financial evaluation.
