Invitation to Bid for Assessment of Woody Plant Biodiversity

Job Description

Farm Africa is an international NGO founded in 1985, with a vision to ensure a prosperous rural Africa. It is a specialist development NGO working with smallholder farmers and forest communities, local governments, and the private sector in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The organization is an expert in the fields of agronomy, livestock, natural resources management, and market engagement. With community engagement underpinning our approach, we design and implement sustainable solutions to rural poverty based on evidence and best practices.

 Farm Africa currently wants to invite those eligible bidders to identify, summarize and document the woody plant biodiversity in the Bale eco-region and the associated landscape of the Guji and Borana zones. The study result findings will inform the FSD intervention plan for the biodiversity protection and management of the natural forest in the ecoregion. The bassline indicator for the woody plant species will be set to measure and track the changes as a result of the conservation actions and rehabilitation activities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications of the Consultants 

1.     Bidders shall submit all the legal documents (renewed Trade License, Registration, TIN, VAT/TOT certificates)

2.     Proven track record of conducting biodiversity assessment (at least three relevant consultancy assignments/studies, evidenced by credible documents);

3.     Expert composition of the consulting team should be:

a.     At least one biodiversity expert (at least MSc degree, and a minimum of 10 years of direct experience in conducting biodiversity assessment, with a focus on woody plant biodiversity assessment)- team leader

b.     At least one botanist/plant science expert (at least MSc degree, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience)

c.      At least one forester (at least MSc degree, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience)

d.     One GIS/RS expert (MSc degree, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience)

4.     Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills

5.     Excellent reporting and presentation skills

6.     Fluency in spoken and written English and sufficient knowledge of the local language, Afaan Oromoo.

7.     Bidders shall clearly state their unit price and total price including VAT/ToT in ETB properly signed and stamped.

Interested bidders should submit their Technical and Financial proposals in two separate files duly marked as “Technical” and “Financial” proposals. The document must be delivered to the email ethprocurement@farmafrica.org on or before 5:00 PM 22 Nov, 2022. Late bids will be rejected.

Bid proposals will be opened by Farm Africa Procurement Committee. Qualified bidders will be considered based on their responsiveness to the requirements listed above, technical, and financial evaluation results. Finally, the winner will be notified through the firm’s address.
