Invitation for media service to Production and dissemination of media messages on ending FGM/C – ActionAid Ethiopia

Background:

ActionAid Ethiopia is a gender justice, good governance and poverty eradication organization working to achieve gender equality and poverty eradication.  In Ethiopia, AAE works to challenge various forms of power and build capacities to create people agencies of a critical mass of communities especially women and girls living in poverty and exclusion to fulfill their rights, ensure redistribution of resources, and build their resilience. We prioritize working with women and girls and their organizations, networks of civil society organizations, national and local government, and other allies to overcome gender injustice and structural causes of poverty, we engage in national-level policy works to influence the agendas of women and girls to tackle gender injustice.

Under the project called TGG-African led movement to end FGM/C. AAE has engaged the media to its effort towards ending FGM/C by rising awareness and influencing policy and legal reforms. As TGG centered girls and use survivor center approach AAE Highlight the survivor’s involvement in advocacy efforts, they will be speaking out against FGM/C, working with organizations, or engaging in community education. Showcase their role as a leader or advocate in helping other girls and women in their community avoid FGM/C or recover from it.

 Overall Objective: 

To develop compelling media messages centered on the personal testimonies and experiences of survivors of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), aimed at raising awareness, changing public perceptions, and influencing policy decisions.

Deliverables 

• Two 15 minutes stories of survivors of FGM/C – one from Amhara, one from Afar region
• A case study of the Girls Councils to End FGM in Amhara region, Debre Tabor Zone – 15 minutes
• A case study of Women Watch Groups Striving to Eng FGM/C- in Amhara region, Debre Tabor Zone – 15 minutes
• The sequence of the discussion will be decided once the cost of media is known.
