Invitation for Consultancy Service on assessment of bamboo and other NTFPs, prepare guidelines and conduct trainings

Environment and Coffee Forest Forum (ECFF) is a local, non-political, non-religious and not-for profit civil society organization, licensed and registered in 2005 and re-registered in 2009 and 2019 in accordance the relevant laws.  ECFF has been working in different parts of the region to uplift the marginalized and less privileged community by diversifying their livelihood opportunities through an integrated intervention. The vision of ECFF is a healthy and prosperous society that values, conserves and sustainably uses nature.

ECFF is a member of the consortium led by Farm Africa to implement “Nature Based Solution for Sustainable and Inclusive Development (NSSID)” project. The project aims to contribute to environmental sustainability, climate resilience and inclusive development in six basins of Ethiopia, grouped into three eco-regional clusters. ECFF implements activities of the project in Masha and Anderacha Woredas of Sheka zone, located in the Western and south-western cluster (Omo-Gibe and Baro-Akobo basins), under Mettu sub-cluster.

ECFF will use some of the project fund for consultancy service. Hence, ECFF is inviting eligible consultancy firms to provide the following consultancy services;

• Assessment/review of potentials, opportunities, challenges and strategies of bamboo and other NTFPs;
• Develop implementation plans and guidelines for production, value addition and marketing of bamboo and other NTFPs;
• Provide skill training on production, value addition and marketing of bamboo and other NTFPs products for representatives of enterprises/cooperatives in the two project woredas.

A licenced consultancy firm may apply. It is expected that the consultancy firm deploys experts that have in-depth experience and expertise in bamboo and other NTFPs (coffee, honey, spices).  The experts should have the following qualifications;

• Master’s degree or above in, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Natural Resources Economics, Environmental Science, Forest Ecology, Environmental Management and Climate change or related fields;
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in similar assignment;
• Experience in similar assignment that can be verified with previous reports;
• Past work experience in the project area;
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
