Job Description

Overall Responsibilities:

The Data Management and Analysis Intern will provide technical support to the strategic information (SI) team with a focus on data management, cleaning, validation, analysis, visualization, and documentation. The internship is designed as a capacity-building opportunity, enabling the intern to gain practical exposure to digital supply chain health information systems, supply chain data management, and project implementation while contributing meaningfully to the quality of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes and data-driven decision-making within the SCS Project.

Specific Responsibilities:

Specifically, the Data Management and Analysis Intern is expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

1. Understanding the Technical Scope of the Project

– Familiarize with SCS Project technical areas including supply chain data systems, MEL frameworks, and the project’s digital health information ecosystem.
– Study key project platforms and tools including Survey CTO, DHIS2, DAGU, DREAM@MSH, and PowerBI to support effective contribution to data workflows.
– Review relevant government strategic documents, USG reporting requirements, and SCS Project performance monitoring frameworks.

2. Support Data Management and Integration

– Extract, clean, and organize datasets from core SCS Project platforms including SurveyCTO, DHIS2, eLMIS/ DAGU, and other project data sources.
– Maintain and update the SCS Project master facility list, including facility metadata such as location, coordinates, and contact information.
– Support the integration of datasets across platforms to ensure consistency and readiness for dashboard updates and routine reporting.

3. Support Data Quality Assurance

– Conduct systematic completeness, consistency, and validation checks
on routine project datasets to identify and resolve data quality issues.
– Document data quality findings, discrepancies, and follow-up actions in a structured and traceable manner.

4. Support Data Analysis and Visualization

– Generate summary tables, graphs, and trend analyses to support performance monitoring, donor reporting, and internal review processes.
– Support updating and maintenance of PowerBI dashboards and the
DREAM@MSH tool with current, validated data.
– Prepare visual briefs, data summaries, and infographics for use in review meetings, technical working groups, and donor communications.

5. Business Process and Documentation Support

– Support requirements gathering for improvements to data systems, dashboards, and reporting tools in coordination with technical staff.
– Prepare workflow diagrams, user-support materials, and training aids as needed to support staff capacity in data use and system navigation.
– Take and document meeting minutes, action points, and follow-ups from MEL team meetings and data review sessions.

6. Learning and Capacity Development

– Participate actively in internal team meetings, technical working groups, and project training sessions.
– Learn about key supply chain information systems including IPLS, APTS, LMIS, and DHIS2 and their roles within the Ethiopian health supply chain.
– Receive mentorship from senior MEL and technical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

A) REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Management
Information Systems (MIS), Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2024/2025 University graduates from the recognized university.

B) KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Strong interest in data management, health information systems, and supply chain analytics.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Query; experience with
PowerBI, Python, or statistical tools is an advantage.
• Familiarity with DHIS2, SurveyCTO, or other digital data systems is preferred.
• Proficiency in English is required.
