PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Through the Nespresso AAA project, TechnoServe has supported over 200 washed coffee processors in SNNPR, Sidama and Oromia regions to sustainably produce coffee that meets the AAA standards. Through this project, TechnoServe aims to support farmers, cooperatives and private coffee producers to-

1) Adopt best practices in coffee cultivation to enhance the supply of the highest quality coffee,

2) Support farmers and wet mill clients to become more environmentally and socially responsible by adopting sustainable coffee production methods,

3) Support farmers and wet mill clients to improve productivity and implement cost reduction initiatives to increase their net income

  • Position description:

The intern will support the implementation of TechnoServe’s Nespresso Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills in Nespresso’s operating areas of Gedio Zone.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

INTERN- Wet Mill Advisors are responsible to support the implementation of Nespresso Project activities at cooperative and private wet mills to follow up and implement the day to day project activities at the grass-root level including the following duties & responsibilities: –

  • Work Closely with TechnoServe business advisor/ABA and support them where needed
  • Conduct training to Wet mill staffs and leaders on Sustainability standard and coffee quality control  with the support of BA/ABA
  • Follow up and Support wet mills on Sustainability standard implementation status, Coffee processing operations and coffee quality controls
  • Support BA/ABA on provision of training activities at wet mills clients. This includes but not limited to audit trainings, SWOT analysis and feedback delivery to wet mills, quality trainings and all sustainability trainings as per the project requirement and donor requests
  • The intern will ensure timely preparations of Wet mills for audits and communication of the same to SBA.
  • Provide technical support to wet mill clients where assigned
  • Supervise, teach-backs and give feedback to wet mill clients
  • Create a good working relationship with stakeholders.
  • Meet with Cooperative and private wet mill owners and wet mil staff to give day-to-day operational support
  • Follow the footsteps of BA on an implementation of Nespresso wet mill day to day activities
  • Submit weekly report and work plan to SBA/BA
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in management or related fields, Business Management, Marketing, Economics and related fields
  • Zero year of
  • Willingness to be based in assigned remote locations in Gedio Zone and willingness to spend significant time in rural areas
  • Interpersonal and cross-cultural skills as well as problem solving skills
  • Planning skills and working to strict time-guidelines
  • English oral & written presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of Gedehgna language speaking and hearing has an advantage
  • Willingness to have motorcycle driving license and able to drive
  • Computer literacy, including Word and Excel
