BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
In 2023 World Food Programme (WFP) Ethiopia embarked upon an Assurance Project to implement strengthened controls to ensure all food commodities reach intended beneficiaries. As part of this project, WFP Ethiopia Supply Chain unit initiated an effort to track all commercial and WFP Fleet trucks using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in a single online platform named Fleet Finder.
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Head of Operations-Downstream, the intern will support the Transport unit on the integration of data and GPS tracking in Fleet Finder.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receive lists of transporter trucks and check against master list of trucks installed with GPS devices using Microsoft Excel.
2.Follow-up by email and phone calls with GPS Service Providers for new trucks to be integrated into the Fleet Finder platform.
3. Ensure full utilization of Fleet Finder platform in WFP Country Office and Sub-Offices for all shipments.
4. Monitor all incidents in Fleet Finder platform and ensure follow-up is executed by the appropriate WFP Ethiopia focal point in Country Office and Sub-Offices and alerts are resolved in Fleet Finder.
5. Liaise with WFP Ethiopia Country Office and Sub-Office staff as well as with WFP Headquarters focal points to ensure GPS data integration and effective reporting.
6. All other duties as assigned.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:
⦁ Attention to detail and ability to follow up on deliverables.
⦁ Experience in using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
⦁ Interest in supply chain operations, including transport.
