CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for  talented individuals to work with us in the Ethiopia Country programme, KFS Agroforestry for People, peace and prosperity project, which is under implementation in Gelana Woreda in West Guji zone and Kochore woreda in  Gedeo Zone  to provide field operational support to the KFS project, specifically in relation to carrying out project activities   that would include day to day  supports to the Project Manager, government and community partners, facilitating capacity building and training to partners (Govt’ and CBOs),  organize and conduct events, documentation and reporting of project progress, lessons and good practices.

Focus Areas: Forest and Agroforestry restorations, Sustainable Forest Management, capacity building activities to partners, facilitation, and conduct field events, nursery management.

The assignment will include the following but not limited to:

  • Provide day to day field operational and technical support to government and community partners on project interventions, deliverables, and plans.
  •  Support Project Resource experts in developing extension and training materials on participatory forestry and agroforestry landscape restorations and management areas.
  • Support nursery operation, management, and restoration activities by implementing partners.
  • Facilitate, organize, and conduct project related events such as workshop, meetings, trainings, monitoring visits in collaboration with project partners and staffs.
  • Data collection, document and report project events, progress, lessons and good practices as knowledge products and management, dissemination, and publicity.
  • Support and coordinate with project manager, partners and staffs whenever necessary such as events and integrated field activities
  • Liaison and collaborate with government, project and other development partners regarding GGGI and KFS project mission and objectives.
  • Prepare and submit monthly action plans and reports to KFS Project Manager and Ethiopia Country programme.
  • Other related assignments that support Ethiopia Country program operations
ELIGIBILITY                                     

Applicants to the GGGI internship program at the time of application must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
  • Possess an excellent command of English.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
  • MSc. or PhD in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Rural and Institutional development, and other related fields
  •  Strong coordination, facilitation and writing skills.
  •  Experience in preparing extension materials and supporting training is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of the project implementation Regions as well as local language is a plus.
