Duration of Contract:               One-year contract, Renewable (with 60 working days probation period)

 Job Summary

Assist the implementation of socio economic and WASH infrastructures in RFSA/PReSERVE project; supervises social, economic and WASH infrastructure construction activities; makes the community participate in the program; prepares reports.

Principal Responsibilities

Key Result #1 –General Responsibilities

1.     Support infrastructure officer in coordinating and supervising the construction tasks at selected construction sites;

2.     Makes the community participate in the construction activities;

3.     Establish and follows up the participation of community’s committee in the construction activities;

4.     Collects information about the progress of completed activities and assist handing over process of the completed constructions to the respective beneficiaries and concerned line offices;

5.     Ensures that construction materials are properly utilized for the overall activities which are implemented via the project and cross checking the payments are properly received by the respective workers;

6.     Promotes positive relationship with the concerned local governments;

7.     Assists the immediate supervisor in conducting surveys and in preparing design document to the planned construction activities;

8.     Conducts water quality tests before and after implementation and keeps records;

9.     Pays daily wages of laborers and organizes the record;

10.   Prepares performance reports for the overall activities which are under the project/program in consultation with his immediate supervisor;

11.   Performs other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor;

12.   Prepares working plans and schedules;

13.   Makes available materials and other resources necessary for all construction as per the design;

⮚        Within each project and department, discuss FH’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.

⮚        Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.

⮚        In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations

Safety & Security Responsibility

⮚        Each FHE staff member should adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security policy of FH. Lapses in safe conduct can jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff.

⮚        Every FHE staff member has an obligation to learn and understand the security situation where they are located.

⮚        Each FHE staff member should adhere to all pertinent policies concerning safety and security.  This includes, but not limited to, personal safety, road safety, etc.

⮚        Has a responsibility to become familiar to social, cultural and other associated features of their duty stations;

⮚        Abstains from inappropriate or offensive behavior that can put FHE in a difficult position, impair operations, and jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff of FHE.

⮚        All FHE staff should promotes safe conducts and exercises caution in all work activities; staff should accountable for own personal and professional actions and conduct;

Maintain or retains confidential internal information of the organization.

Education and Experience

⮚  Bsc in Irrigation Engineering/ Hydraulic Engineering or relevant field of study with at least 1 Year experience in a similar position preferably in an International NGO setting.

Distinguishing Competencies

⮚       Strong computer skill and knowledge in the area of MS word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint and email communication.

⮚       High level of initiative taking.

Language

⮚ Proficiency in spoken and written Amharic and /or local language of the operational area and, basic understanding of English required;

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
