Job Description

Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization that has been implementing child sponsorship and community development programs in Ethiopia for the past 27 years, since 1997. GNE is a Korea-based organization re-registered in Ethiopia as a charity organization with Certificate No. 1135 and operates in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Agency for Civil Society Organizations.

Currently, GNE operates in eight regions and one city administration, including Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, Benishangul-Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia regions, as well as the Addis Ababa City Administration.

Job Summary

Good Neighbors Ethiopia is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial IGA Officer to lead our livelihood intervention programs. You will be responsible for transforming vulnerable households into self-reliant entrepreneurs by identifying market opportunities and providing technical business support.

  • Job Position: Income Generating Activity (IGA) Officer
  • Reports to: IGD Manager
  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa
  • Employment Type: One-year contract with possibility of extension based on performance
  • Number Required: One (1)
  • Salary & Benefits: As per the organization’s scale

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and monitor Income Generating Activity (IGA) interventions
  • Conduct beneficiary assessments and follow up IGA support
  • Prepare activity, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Coordinate with field teams and relevant stakeholders
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to beneficiaries
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Conduct market assessments and value-chain analysis in project intervention areas.
  • Organize and facilitate Business Skill Trainings (BST) for beneficiaries.
  • Oversee the distribution and monitoring of start-up kits and revolving funds.
  • Establish sustainable market linkages between local producers and wholesalers.

Requirements

  • BA or BSc, MA or MSc in Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Agriculture, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in IGA or livelihood programs
  • Experience working with NGOs is an asset
  • Strong reporting, communication, and computer skills
