Bopinc is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee our portfolio of projects in inclusive marketing. In this role, you’ll lead our work in helping businesses market and distribute impactful products and services to low-income communities.

About Bopinc

Bopinc is a Dutch not-for-profit accelerating the impact of innovative, market-driven business models in low-income markets. We support clients in creating more viable and inclusive businesses by engaging people at the Base of the Pyramid as consumers and micro-entrepreneurs in supply chains. Over the past decade, we have partnered with more than 1,000 companies, reaching 4.5+ million low-income consumers and creating better income opportunities for over 120,000 low-income entrepreneurs.

Our organisation is guided by a Management Team (MT) of four, with expertise leaders supporting our programs through expertise, program management, consulting, coaching, and business development. This role will focus on Marketing expertise across a wide variety of projects and partners.

About the Role

As Inclusive Marketing Lead for Bopinc, you will be responsible for a portfolio of inclusive marketing projects, where you’ll work closely with clients to create and execute innovative solutions that improve lives.

Specific responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership and Innovation

    • Shape the strategic direction of our Inclusive Marketing expertise, advising the MT and Partnerships teams on trends, innovations and program strategies
    • Collaborate with Innovation Team, Project Managers and Country directors to drive innovation and learning

Project & Account Management

    • Manage projects, ranging from smaller initiatives to large, multi-year programs across multiple countries.
    • Engage with non-profit, for-profit, and academic partners to maximise project impact.
    • Manage relationships with select clients, including bi- and multi-lateral funders, private foundations, development finance institutions, non-profits and corporates.
    • Collaborate with our internal impact measurements and insights and communications teams to track and share our impact.

Consulting & Coaching

    • Serve as an internal and external expert on inclusive marketing strategies, advising companies on best practices and innovation opportunities.
    • Support and mentor project team members across the markets where we work on inclusive marketing topics.

Portfolio Growth

    • Work closely with the partnerships team to expand our project portfolio, represent Bopinc at events, and contribute to proposal development.

About You

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or (preferably) Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Product Design, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in marketing in Africa and/or Asia, with demonstrated experience working in the private sector.
  • Experience setting up or innovating marketing and distribution strategies to reach low-income people such as consumers, smallholder farmers, micro-retailers or waste collectors.
  • Demonstrated track record managing 1M EUR+ programmes, funded by international donors.
  • Experience with digital marketing and/or digitizing sales and distribution channels.
  • Experience managing and motivating multi-cultural, global teams.
  • Knowledge and experience with Inclusive Business challenges and opportunities at the Base of the Pyramid.
  • Empathy for BoP as value-seeking consumers and motivated entrepreneurs.
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders (government, development players, large multinationals, rural small entrepreneurs).
  • Strong alignment with Bopinc’s mission and purpose.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to program markets, such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya and/or Bangladesh (amongst others).
