Ethiopian National Association of the Blind (ENAB) is the first Organization for Peoples with disabilities in Ethiopia. Since its establishment, ENAB works 65 years for the realization of the right for people with Visual impairments. ENAB is collaborating and networking with many local and international organizations towards this objective.

Job Description

  • manage and support projects that ensure eye care services are accessible to all, coordinate with stakeholders, and monitor implementation.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of inclusive eye health projects, aligning with national and organizational priorities.
  • Work closely with ministries of health, disability organizations, and other partners to coordinate activities and ensure the integration of inclusive practices in eye care services.
  • Oversee project activities, such as cataract surgeries, refractive error correction, and low vision services, ensuring they are accessible and responsive to the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans, collect data, and prepare regular reports on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Provide technical support and training to partners and stakeholders to enhance their understanding and implementation of disability inclusion in eye health.
  • Represent the eye health programs in relevant forums, contribute to proposals, and prepare and disseminate regular and accurate reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Lead and support the implementation of Inclusive Eye Health projects in the country Office.
  • Work closely with Ministry of Health and Child Care and other stakeholder in coordinating and supporting Inclusive Eye Health projects.
  • Lead in monitoring and management of resources in the Inclusive Eye Health portfolio in line with the partner budgets and work plans
  • Oversee administrative duties within the Inclusive Eye Health project, including procurement of equipment, consumables and other items within the project.
  • Serve as a focal point for all disability-inclusive eye health and related activities.
  • Build partnerships with disability organizations and other organization working on eye health
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track the effectiveness of eye health programs.
  • Contribute to program reports, case studies, and success stories, highlighting the importance of eye health.

Required educational and work experience

  • Master’s or first degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Ophthalmologist, and other field of studies related to eye health
  • 8 years’ work experience for first degree and 6 years for master’s degree.
  • Proven professional experience in Project Cycle Management (especially project design and planning)
  • Informed in disability-related concepts
  • Good skills in communications, English language, technologies etc.
  • Experience working effectively with governments, civil society, multilateral, and the private sector
  • Experience project management and planning program design
  • Experience in reporting and monitoring using quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Experience in developing and conducting trainings, campaigns and community work
  • Co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience and information; supports others in the pursuit of team goals
  • Builds a useful network of contacts and relationships and utilizes it to achieve objectives
  • Those with work experience on disability are encouraged,
  • Those who have NGO experience are encouraged.
