Dümmen Orange is an internationally leading breeding company focused on cut flowers, bulbs, tropical plants, pot plants, bedding plants and perennials firm with a significant presence in Ethiopia for over 17 years. The company is based in Koka, employs over 2500 staff and has plans to grow further. For our Human Resource department based in Ethiopia, we are looking for an experienced HR Officer.

Job Objective

Our Human Resource department in Ethiopia is responsible for all Human Resource related tasks of our location Red Fox Ethiopia PLC. The HR Officer assures that Human Resource tasks are planned and executed according to the company expectations.

Job Summary/Main Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the HR Manager, Salary and benefit Administration Head, he/she Control overall the company’s Human Resource & General Service Activities. The HR Officer is responsible for the overall HR management of a team. The role includes following specifics:

  • Responsible for employee selection and recruitment
  • Follow up and manage employees’ daily, weekly or monthly attendance record.
  • Administer work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations, transportation and security services.
  • Collect attendance report from the attendance machines for payroll preparation
  • Prepare the final payroll payment and forward to salary and benefit administration head based on the attendance collected.
  • Follow all changes related to shift, time of work, rates, working date
  • Prepare final termination payment
  • Answer questions about leave balance, Attendance issue, taxes, and other HR related employees request.
  • Collect data from new employee for employee file and pension scheme
  • Facilitate the inclusion of the new employee to the pension scheme immediately upon employment
  • Keep updated employee records with all relevant information (marital status, emergency contact, and years of service, education status and other.)
  • Follow, update and keep staff leave (annual, sick, maternity, paternity etc…) on HR system and employees personal file on time
  • Prepare leave balance report on monthly, semi- Annual and annual base
  • Prepare monthly transport allowance payment
  • Responsible for investigating the case, issuance of letter, filing of disciplinary letters and disciplinary data management.
  • Responsible for the effective documentation and filing system of the Human Resources department.
  • Take sample finger print for new employee and make a correction if any problem regarding finger print.
  • Prepare and perform employees’ bonus based on the set criteria.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Attributes)

  • The candidates are required to have BA in Management or related fields and 3 and above years relevant work experience.
  • Good interpersonal skill
  • Dedicated and willing to work under stress full condition.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent role player in motivating team work and organizing skill.
  • Computer and Ms Office application skill (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Preferred work experience in Horticulture/Floriculture sector
  • Skills in identifying, analyzing and solving problems.
  • People management skill
  • Pro-active and team player
  • Strong company Human Resource policies enforcement discipline
