Job Description

SOS Sahel Ethiopia jointly with Society for Education, Environment Development (SEED) obtained financial support from UN OCHA to implement a project entitled “Rebuilding Lives: Integrated Humanitarian Support for Returning IDPs in Horo Guduru Wollega zone, Abe Dongoro District”. The project objective is to strengthen the livelihoods, food security, and protection of returning internally displaced populations in Abe Dongoro district by delivering integrated, time-bound support—including agricultural inputs, animal health services, cash assistance, emergency shelter repair, GBV response, Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT), and WASH. The project will be in implementation from 01, December 2025 to 17, August 2026.

SOS Sahel Ethiopia, as part of its program implementation is seeking to employ interested, qualified, & experienced individual for the job positions mentioned hereunder:

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Project Team Leader, the Health Officer will lead the Mobile Health and Nutrition Team (MHNT) in the assigned Woreda. He/She will be responsible for all the aspects of the MHNT with regards to quality service delivery and in line with the Regional and National MHNT guidelines. More specifically, the health officer is responsible for consultations, supplies requisitions, capacity building of the teams, coordination with other MHNT in the Woreda and timely submission of reports to the Project Team Leader. These roles are crucial for improving health outcomes in vulnerable populations through effective mobile health and nutrition services.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the daily mobile services in the selected kebeles according to the standard procedure,
  • Ensure that all medicine, medical supplies and equipment needed for the activities are available before departure,
  • Participate in the selection, functionalization and strengthening of operational sites including a health post with collaboration with the Woreda Health Office,
  • Provide technical assistance and training to health service providers, ensuring adherence to national and international guidelines,
  • Facilitate outreach activities to improve health services and ensure comprehensive family planning and nutrition services,
  • Work closely with local health authorities and other health teams to enhance the effectiveness of health interventions,
  • Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the program activities as appropriate and relevant to them,
  • Establish and maintain smooth working relationships with Concern staff, government bodies and other stakeholders,
  • Ensure weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the project manager using appropriate format (narrative and statistics with database).

Adherence to SOS Sahel Ethiopia and universally accepted core principles of Safeguarding, Code of Ethics and Conduct, Child Protection, PSEAH, and other relevant national and international policies and guidelines.

Remuneration: As per the organization salary scale and benefit packages.

Duty Base: Abe Dongor District of Horo Guduru Wollega Zone in Oromia Region

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BSc/MSC/BA/BSc in Health Science, Public Health, Nursing, and health related Studies,
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience mobile health and nutrition outreach services both in humanitarian and development project,
  • Previous experience working in Mobile health and nutrition team response program is preferable,
  • Good project management skills, ability to plan, organize and monitoring of implementation of MHNT projects,
  • Demonstrated qualifications, experience, or training in community mobilization and community health promotion.
