Job Description

Mothers and Children Multisectoral Development Organization (MCMDO) is a national Non-Governmental Organization registered in accordance with the proclamation for Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No 1113/2019 with a certificate No 0022. MCMDO is currently implementing 15 emergency response and development projects in all regions and City Administrations in Ethiopia. .

To meet its objectives MCMDO calls for competent professionals to apply for the following vacant position.

Position Title: Health and Nutrition Officer

Duty Station: Benishangul Gumuz region Ura Reffugee Camp

Implementation Woreda: Ura Reffugee Camp

Type of Employment: 22 months Contract

Salary: As per organizational salary scale

Job Summary:

The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing health and nutrition programs within the assigned interventionarea. This role ensures effective planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of program activities, while aligning with national standards and international protocols. Working closely with government staff, local stakeholders, and partners, the officer strengthens coordination and integration of services. He/She will assess service quality, provide technical support, and address capacity gaps through training and mentorship of health workers and community volunteers.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the agri based project activities.
  • Support health facilities in the treatment of acute malnutrition for children under five and pregnant and lactating women with respective of national protocols and SPHERE standards
  • Responsible for overseeing implementation of livelihood based health and nutrition project activities in accordance with approved time schedules, budgets.
  • Plan, facilitate, and conduct training in conceptual understanding of the latest health and nutrition practices.
  • Provide technical support and applicable tools to project beneficiaries, and community structures, in identifying demand-based potential and demand inputs.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Support, follow up & monitor implementation of the identified activities as per the plans.

Job Requirement

  • BSC degree nutrition, public health or clinical nurse with clinical health background from accredited universities or health colleges
  • Minimum five years working experience with NGOs in Emergency health and Nutrition programs.
  • Excellent command of the most common methodologies to identify, assess and monitor livelihood activities, with proven record of achievements.
  • Skilled trainer with experience developing and delivering training to a varied audience, such as project staff, stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts
