The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for leading, coordinating, and implementing World Vision Ethiopia’s health and nutrition programs within the assigned woreda. This role ensures effective planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of program activities, while aligning with national standards and international protocols. Working closely with government staff, local stakeholders, and partners, the officer strengthens coordination and integration of services. He/She will conduct regular field visits to assess service quality, provide technical support, and address capacity gaps through training and mentorship of health workers and community volunteers.
The Key responsibilities of the officer include delivering essential health services such as OPD/IPD consultations, maternal and newborn care (ANC, PNC, delivery), nutrition screening and management (SAM/MAM, GMP, MUAC), and immunization (EPI). The officer also supports disease surveillance, early referrals, community health education, and the availability of critical supplies and tools. This position plays a vital role in improving the health and nutritional status of vulnerable communities, especially in emergency contexts, by ensuring that interventions are timely, effective, and impactful.
Moreover, the position holder will conduct monthly monitoring using PHC or quality benchmark checklists and follow up on trainings with the post-training checklist. They will oversee outreach activities and community volunteers, supervise environmental health, and ensure IPC supplies are available. The role includes supporting weekly and monthly report compilation, mentoring OPD, MCH, surveillance, and supply chain teams, and assisting HWs and HEWs with PHC recording and reporting. They will also participate in joint supervision, evaluations, and monthly meetings.
