Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

Operational Fintech:

  • Serve as the lead in Inkomoko’s platform management for technology on all accounting and lending functions
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement, providing potential solutions that improve business performance, including automating payroll, API solutions with banking partners, transitioning accounting software, and other tech for managing financial performance.
  • Develop fintech SOPs and train staff to optimally use all internal tech financial systems and processes, and manage any usage gaps
  • Ensure all FinTech-related decisions are backed by data
  • Implement adequate risk mitigation and controls in FinTech

Investment Fintech:

  • Partner with IT to implement and improve Inkomoko’s Core Banking Solution to optimize management of Inkomoko’s $30M USD loan fund
  • Develop and implement intuitive fintech processes and systems to add value to Inkomoko’s lending strategy as we scale across geographies.
  • Leverage newer technologies (machine learning, AI, etc) to improve Inkomoko’s lending
  • Work with the Tech team and the investment team during the configuration of new investment products in the system

Client-focused Fintech:

  • Identify gaps, develop possibilities, and implement solutions that will enable Inkomoko to deliver value to clients through tech-enabled solutions (ie. mobile lending app)
  • Continual improvement of client-facing services through maintaining knowledge of tech solutions and modifying those to be appropriate for rural, low-bandwidth clients

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of fintech experience in East Africa
  • A highly empathetic community builder and/or HCDer who has experience working with marginalized communities in East Africa (e.g. refugees, women, youth)
  • Experience in FinTech, financial sector, or related technology industry
  • A highly effective communicator who can engage data and storytelling to build consensus across cross-functional team environments and from different cultures.
  • Willingness to fail. This person will need to be willing to pivot, iterate, and let go when needed.  Be committed to solving the problem, not wedded to the solution.
