The Opportunity

The Grants Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the pre-award planning, organization, preparation, and the post-award administration of various grants to multiple women’s rights organizations (WRO’s) in Ethiopia. Feminist principles of collaboration, participation, transparency, and respect for the agency of women’s organizations will be integrated into all aspects of this role. The post-holder will be based in Addis Ababa yet travel to the project locations in Amhara, Oromia and SNNPR for approximately 50% of their time.

This role will ensure that the Women’s Voice and Leadership project (WVL) is implemented with the feminist principles at the forefront of every interventions. This is accomplished through providing direct support and oversight to the implementation and monitoring of the project’s Gender Equality Strategy, in line with Plan’s new global transformative agenda and Country CSP Gender Equality agenda, and Global Affairs Canada’s new Feminist International Assistance Policy.

 

The Individual

Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • Academic qualification BA/MA in economics, business, project management, or other relevant fields.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project management, grants management and compliance with more than one development aid donor.
  • Proven experience working with program management tools and processes, including financial reporting budget guidance, work plans and monitoring templates.
  • Experience in sub-granting for multiple partners, from due diligence to agreement signing and grant disbursement finally to liquidation

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic work planning processes.
  • Understanding of feminist principles, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.
  • Familiarity with Global Affairs Canada guidelines and requirements.

Skills Specific to the Post

  • Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, track project performance, meet deadlines, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral) in English (verbal and written) and Amharic. All donor reports, deliverables and communication will be in English.
  • Proficient computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet). SAP software application skill is desirable

Languages required

  • Fluency in English language is essential
  • In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge of Local Languages is a desirable

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies;
  • Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
