Job Description

Ethiopian Centre for Development (ECD) for its projects implementation currently seeks qualified candidates for Grant, Business Dev’t and Communication Coordinator position for Addis Ababa. Job Summary:

The Grant, Business Development & Communication Officer is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, building donor relationships, and enhancing the organization’s visibility through strategic communication. This role combines resource mobilization, donor engagement, and public relations to support the organization’s mission and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Responsibility #1. Grants & Resource Mobilization

  • Research and identify new funding opportunities (donor calls, RFPs, tenders).
  • Develop high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, Letter of Intents (LOIs), and budgets in collaboration with program and finance teams.
  • Track grant timelines, submission deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a grants database, including donor contacts, grant history, and status updates.
  • Ensure compliance with donor guidelines and requirements.

Job Responsibility #2. Business Development

  • Support strategic partnership building with donors, NGOs, private sector, and government agencies.
  • Lead or support in proposal development and contract negotiations.
  • Conduct donor mapping, market analysis, and risk assessments for new funding streams.
  • Monitor trends and innovations in development funding and align organizational priorities accordingly.

Job Responsibility #3. Communication and Visibility

  • Develop and implement the organization’s communication and branding strategy.
  • Draft and disseminate newsletters, success stories, press releases, annual reports, and website/blog content.
  • Manage social media accounts and ensure regular content updates.
  • Support event organization, media engagement, and visibility campaigns.
  • Ensure all communication materials align with donor and organizational branding guidelines.

Job Responsibility #4. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes related to donor reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of quality narrative and financial reports for donors.
  • Document lessons learned, case studies, and best practices for internal and external sharing.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by your immediate Supervisor

About You

QUALIFICATIONS

A) EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Communication, International Relations, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 6/7 years of experience in grants management, proposal writing, donor relations, or communications.
  • Proven track record of winning grants from institutional donors (e.g., USAID, EU, UN, foundations).
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, fundraising platforms, and communication tools.
  • Knowledge of the local and international donor landscape.
