Job Description
- Interactive Election Mapping Platform: For the Ethiopia 2026 election, integrated into our existing website.
- Integrated News Management System (INMS): A web-based platform to support newsroom workflows, digital asset management, internal administration (HR/Finance), and automated publishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Interactive Election Mapping:
- Develop web-based election maps using GIS technologies (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox, or OpenLayers).
- Design election data models and visualization layers for real-time or near-real-time updates.
- Ensure high performance and mobile responsiveness for public audiences.
- Integrated News Management System (INMS):
- Develop a custom workflow: Reporter → Managing Editor → Editor-in-Chief.
- Build a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for photos, audio, and video.
- Develop internal modules for Finance, HR, and Asset Management.
- Create API integrations for automatic publishing to the website (WordPress) and social media platforms.
- Set up and manage the hosting environment on a dedicated Linux server.
Contract & Compensation
- Duration: 6 months (Full-time).
Compensation: Competitive monthly salary, subject to performance reviews and project milestones
Technical Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS, or a related field.
GIS Expertise:
- Proven experience with web mapping and spatial data (PostGIS, GeoServer, etc.).
Full-Stack Development:
- Strong experience in modern web frameworks and database management (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
Integrations:
- Experience with WordPress REST API and Social Media APIs (Meta, X/Twitter).
Server Management:
- Proficient in Linux server administration and deployment.
Mindset:
- Ability to work independently and meet strict milestones in a fast-paced media environment.
