Job Description

Rift Valley Children and Women Development Organization (RCWDO) is a local Non-Governmental Organization established in 1993 G.C. It is operating in eight zones of Oromia Regional State namely: East Bale, Arsi, Bale, West Arsi, Kellem Wollega, West Wolega, Gugi Zone and East Shoa zones implementing integrated rural community development programme in partnership with different donors & international NGOs partners targeting the poor and marginalized people.

One of the projects that RCWDO is currently implementing in the regional state as consortia with other CSOs such as WGF, SEDA and ADAA is the third Phase of the Ethiopian Social Accountability Project (ESAP3). The project is financed through a multi donor trust fund (MDTF) involving several DPs. The MDTF is administered by the World Bank (WB) managed by VNG International (MA).  To facilitate effective implementation of the project, RCWDO would like to invite qualified, competent and interested applicants for the project that would be launched soon for the following position.

Main tasks of the GSIE:

  • Lead the project team in gender mainstreaming throughout the SA process to ensure   gender equality and social inclusion;
  • Provide technical and coaching to SA project staff to facilitate key gender and social inclusion activities (e.g., gender analysis, tool application etc.) and collaboration with key stakeholders at woreda level;
  • Plan own activities in coordination with the PC and M&E officer, including joint monitoring and technical support trips as needed;
  • Participate in a regular reporting, identification and documentation of relevant gender practices;
  • Support the PC to prepare grantee participation in regional and local meetings for gender and social inclusion related advocacy;
  • Participate in and provide input to learning and capacity development events organized by the MA – actively network with GSIEs of other SA projects, and roll-out agreed gender and social inclusion actions to the project team;
  •  Participate in monitoring visits either planned by MA, government or and development partners

Location: Head Office (Addis Ababa) with frequent travel to field

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications:

  •  At least BA degree in gender, social inclusion, sociology or related field
  • Three years experience with gender and/or social inclusion
  • Potential and willingness to develop strong training and facilitation skills
  • Strong determination to work on gender and social inclusion.
  • Good networker with other GSIEs
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the woredas
