ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for Gender Expert position who meet the following requirements.

Job Summary

The Gender Expert is responsible for providing specialized expertise in gender analysis, program development, and implementation within the organization. This role involves conducting gender assessments, guiding program design, and ensuring that all projects integrate gender equality perspectives. The Gender Expert plays a key role in advancing the organization’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering marginalized communities

Duties and responsibilities:

Gender Analysis and Gender Audit:

• Conduct gender analyses and assessments to identify gender disparities and inequalities within various programs and projects.
• Provide recommendations based on gender analysis to ensure gender-responsive program planning and implementation.

Program Development:

• Collaborate with program managers to design gender-sensitive initiatives, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all beneficiaries.
• Integrate gender mainstreaming principles into project designs, activities, and outcomes.

Training and Capacity Building:

• Provide training sessions and workshops to staff, partners, and stakeholders on gender equality concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
• Build the capacity of team members to mainstream gender considerations in their respective projects.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Develop gender-specific indicators and tools to monitor and evaluate the impact of gender-related interventions.
• Analyze data and prepare reports to assess the effectiveness of gender equality initiatives.

Advocacy and Awareness:

• Advocate for gender equality in programmatic and policy discussions, both within the organization and externally.
• Raise awareness about gender issues through campaigns, workshops, and community engagement.

Research and Innovation:

• Stay informed about the latest research, trends, and best practices in the field of gender equality and social inclusion.
• Integrate innovative and evidence-based approaches into gender-related programs and initiatives.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare comprehensive reports, case studies, and success stories highlighting the impact of gender-focused interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of gender-related activities, outcomes, and lessons learned
• Perform any other duties as assigned by your line manager

• MA degree or BA Degree in Gender and Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Political Science, Law or any other related fields
• 7 years for BA holders and  5 years for MA holders

Knowledge and skills

• Deep understanding of Gender analysis frameworks, feminist theories, and inter-sectionalist.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to apply a gender lens to various contexts.
• Excellent communication, training, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
• Commitment to promoting gender equality, social justice, and human rights.
