Job Description

Job Purpose Summary:  The GBV project Coordinator is responsible for the leadership and technical support GBV project interventions, including strategic planning, technical leadership, capacity building, support and supervision of staff, internal and external coordination and representation, proposal development and reporting.

Main Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical, administrative and managerial leadership for the project.
  • Develop the overall framework for project M&E systems in collaboration with donor and project staff including requirements reporting baseline, develop and evaluation surveys; develop and monitor project management plan to systematically document performance.
  • Facilitate design of “SMART” objectives, logic models, monitoring frameworks, and evaluation plans during manual progress.
  • Contribute to the development of annual work plan to identify project targets and ensure inclusion of M&E activities.
  • Ensure quarterly and timely submission of quarterly reports; manage preparation of additional reports as required.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to project and partner staff in planning and implementation M&E system and activities, data-based program decision-making, and result reporting; provide training as needed.
  • Strengthen relationships with community, donors, private sector partners and national authorities.
  • Collaborate with the National Alliance to End Child Marriage and FGM/C and assist in establishing and supporting the Somali Regional Alliance to End Child Marriage and FGM/C.
  • Create innovative approaches and initiatives to combat FGM in Somali region while contextualizing the sensitive key messages.
  • Promote the sustainability of program activities through effective networking, linkages with other programs, capacity building of program staff, partners, CBOs, etc.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in gender studies, social work, gender, social sciences, health or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in NGO, of which at least 2 years of experience in project Coordinator role
  • Experience in managing the program cycle, including assessments, program design, proposal and report preparation, implementation, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and donor reports
  • Experience in staff management, coaching and appraisal reviews, Strong organizational, cooperation, representation and negotiation skills;
  • Technical knowledge and experience with Gender-Based Violence Guidelines, IASC Gender-Based Violence Guidelines, Gender-Based Violence Case Management Principles;
  • Commitment to and understanding of gender equality, children’s rights, GBV Guiding Principles, humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and IASC Guidelines, CAAP Code of Conduct
  • Fluent in English and Somali both verbal and writing. Amharic speaking and writing are advantageous
  • Computer skills, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience using outlook, ability to organize meetings in teams, kobo tool and ODK.
