Job Description

Tamra for Social Development Organization (TSD) is a local Civil Society Organization established in 1998 and operating across Addis Ababa, Oromia, Sidama, Central, and Southern Ethiopia. TSD works in youth empowerment, peace building, gender development, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), climate justice, and sustainable livelihoods.

Position Summary:

The Gender and SRHR Thematic Officer will be responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of gender equality, GBV prevention, and SRHR related interventions at regional level. The position plays a key role in ensuring gender responsive, rights based, and safeguarding informed programming in alignment with TSD’s strategic priorities and donor requirements.

  • Reports to: Regional Program Coordinator/Head Office Thematic Coordinators

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and monitor gender and SRH program activities.
  • Conduct gender analyses to support gender-responsive programming.
  • Integrate gender responsive and gender transformative approaches across project activities.
  • Facilitate trainings and community dialogues on SRHR, GBV, and youth health.
  • Build partnerships with local health offices, facilities, and community stakeholders.
  • Document timely activity reports, program results, lessons learned, and success stories.
  • Coordinate with Head Office thematic teams to ensure alignment with national frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: BSc/MSc in Gender Studies, Public Health, Social Work, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Experience: 4 years (BSc) or 2 years (MSc) of relevant experience in gender, SRHR, or women’s rights programming (NGO experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming and health rights frameworks.
  • Skills in training facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and documentation.
  • Good reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Willingness to travel to project sites

Language: Fluency in English is mandatory. Local Language is a Plus.
