SNV, Netherlands Development Organization, has been operating in Ethiopia since the 1970s. SNV is working in eight regional states and the two city administrations in Ethiopia, providing technical assistance and program implementation in Agriculture, WASH, and Energy Sectors.
SNV is an open and learning organization that focuses on improving the lives of Ethiopians through a market-based approach inclusive of women and youth. In its Strategic Plan period, SNV is more explicitly aiming to bring systems to change, including strengthening institutions and kick-starting markets that help many more to escape poverty beyond our projects.
Project Background
The Project is a Scale-Up Program (NBPE+) in the Energy Sector. NBPE+ is co-financed by the European Union and the government of Ethiopia and being implemented from April 12, 2017, for 81 months in 9 regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Sidama, SNNPR, Afar, Benishangul-Gumuz, Gambella, and Somali).

Summary of the Position:
The Expert is specialized and experienced in gender and social inclusion areas and provides technical insights and advisory services on products and interventions of NBPE+. Gender balance and pro-poor orientation, through social inclusion, are expected to be improved in the program, the supply side (including the private sector) demand side (end-users of bio-digests) institutional development (Policies and enabling environment). The Expert gives input to Project Manager, NBPE+ project team, and partners on GESI in order to meet the agreed objectives and realize successful interventions. The Advisor identifies opportunities and areas for improvement, to ensure quality delivery.
This position is for 1 year.
Qualifications
Minimum of BA/BSC degree in social studies or other relevant field and (min. five (5) years and above) experience in development work and project implementation or technical field, particularly on gender and social inclusion area.
