About HHF

The Hachalu Hundessa Foundation (HHF) is a respected non-profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the profound legacy of the iconic Oromo artist and human rights activist Hachalu Hundessa, who was tragically assassinated in June 2020. Hachalu Hundessa Foundation has been registered and accorded legal personality with Registry Number 5671 on June 17, 2021 as Local Organization in accordance with the Civil Society Organizations Proclamations No1113/ 2019 to embody the spirit of Hachalu Hundessa’s legacy by promoting and supporting artistic activities, social justice, cultural enrichment, educational initiatives, engagement in community Humanitarians and development projects/programs, and overall empowerment of the Oromo and other vulnerable communities.

Position Summary:

The Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Manager will lead HHF’s efforts to diversify and increase funding, ensuring the financial sustainability of Hachalu Hundess Foundations. Based in Addis Ababa will report to the Chief of Executive Director. The Fundraising & Resource Mobilization manager is responsible for any kind of resource mobilization and fundraising initiatives of the HHF partner organizations. He/ she will be responsible to develop fundraising and resource mobilization strategy, concept notes, project proposals and organize fundraising events. The post holder will work with partner’s resource mobilization focal and take over responsibility for maintaining strong relationships with and raising significant funds from different Sponsors, local, and international donors

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy with clear targets, aligned with HHF’s strategic objectives.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with key donors, including foundations, government agencies, international organizations, and major individual contributors.
  • Lead the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and funding requests, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines.
  • Expand and manage HHF’s donor portfolio, fostering long-term partnerships through effective communication and stewardship.
  • Design and execute diverse fundraising initiatives, including online campaigns, events, and corporate partnerships.
  • Develop and manage the fundraising budget, monitor income and expenditure, and provide regular financial reports to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Chief of Executive Director and Operations Manager to identify funding needs and develop compelling project proposals.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief of Executive Director.

New Business Development strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the HHF Vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Lead the mapping process for selecting partners, Private sectors, Private individuals, Higher Institutions, and others working closely with the HHF to identify selection criteria and make sure selection is transparent and well documented.
  • Manage and handle the administration of pre-award due diligence processes with all new sub-awardees. Identify specific risk factors associated with the award, and the identification and implementation of appropriate measures to manage those risks.
  • Conduct market analysis and research to identify potential funding sources, including government grants, private foundations, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors.
  • Set fundraising targets and goals, tools, tracking progress and ensuring accountability for achieving objectives.

Resource Mobilization Activity

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction in the development and execution of resource mobilization strategies to advance HHF’s mission and objectives.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with donors, partners, government entities, and other stakeholders to build strategic alliances and secure support for HHF’s initiatives.
  • Identify, cultivate, and leverage strategic partnerships to expand HHF’s reach, influence, and impact, driving forward our collective mission for positive change.
  • Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies, leveraging diverse funding streams, including major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, and individual donors, to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
  • Lead the development of compelling funding proposals, grant applications, and donor reports, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and organizational objectives.
  • Drive resource mobilization efforts by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, cultivating donor relationships, and effectively communicating our impact and value proposition.

About You

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree and above is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, International Relations, Social and Natural Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in resource mobilization and fundraising, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably with an NGO.
  • Proven track record of securing significant funding from diverse sources.
  • Experience in grant writing, donor relationship management, and strategic planning.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills in English and Affan Oromo.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills to build and maintain donor partnerships.
  • Knowledge of donor requirements and reporting protocols
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
