Mothers and Children Multisectoral Development Organization (MCMDO) is a national Non-Governmental Organization registered in accordance with the proclamation for Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No. 1113/2019 with Certificate No. 0022. MCMDO is currently implementing emergency response and development projects in all regions and City Administrations in Ethiopia.

Job Summary

The Food Preparation and Kitchen Operation Trainer will be responsible for delivering practical and theoretical vocational training in food preparation, kitchen operations, food safety, and hospitality-related skills to street-connected children and youth enrolled in the Program. The position requires an experienced professional who can facilitate competency-based training, mentor vulnerable youth, and create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Core Duties

• Deliver competency-based training in food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Prepare lesson plans and practical demonstrations in accordance with the occupational standards.
• Train participants on food hygiene, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards during practical sessions.
• Promote proper personal hygiene and cleanliness within the training environment.
• Maintain accurate records of trainee performance and competency assessments.
• Support the preparation of training materials and practical exercises.
• Encourage teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and positive work ethics.

Qualifications Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or TVET Level IV in Food Preparation and Kitchen Operation, Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.
• A valid Certificate of Competence (COC) and Teaching Methodology Training Certificate are required.

Professional Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in food preparation and kitchen operation training.
• Experience delivering competency-based vocational training in TVET institutions or similar training centers.
• Previous experience working with NGOs, youth livelihood programs, or vulnerable children and youth is an added advantage.

Skills

• Excellent practical knowledge of food preparation and commercial kitchen operations.
• Strong facilitation and adult learning skills.
• Ability to prepare practical training materials and competency assessments.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong mentoring and coaching abilities.
• Ability to work with vulnerable youth in a supportive and respectful manner.

Language & Communication

• Professional fluency in Amharic
• Good working knowledge of English is desirable.
