About TIMRAN
TIMRAN is a civil society organization established in March 2020 to enhance women’s participation in Ethiopia’s politics and public decision-making regardless of their political opinion or party affiliation. TIMRAN’s vision is to see an Ethiopia where women take their legitimate space in the public decision-making arena and the nation’s political affairs. Our mission is to work towards the enhancement of Ethiopian women’s active engagement in political and public leadership to ensure their constitutional right to equal participation in the nation’s political, social, and economic undertakings.
The Women’s Leadership in Emergency (WLiE) initiative, established by CARE Ethiopia, aims to address the underrepresentation of women in decision-making processes during crises. The initiative focuses on empowering women to take leadership roles in rebuilding their communities and shaping solutions in regions affected by conflict, such as the Afar region. In particular, the project targets communities in Abala and Erebti, where women face unique challenges in their participation in recovery, peacebuilding, and decision-making processes.
To ensure the implementation of community-led initiatives and enhance the internal capacity of women’s groups, TIMRAN in collaboration with CARE Ethiopia is looking for a Focal Person to oversee and coordinate the WLiE activities in these regions. The Focal Person will play a role in empowering women leaders, building their skills, and ensuring that their voices and contributions are integrated into decision-making processes.
