ABOUT THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Fineract Developer to join our Software Design & Development team.
The role will have a strong focus on Apache Fineract / Core Banking System (CBS) development and customization, while also contributing to Inkomoko’s wider internal systems, integrations, client-facing applications, and digital transformation initiatives.
We are looking for an engineer who can work beyond a single application — someone who understands how Fineract, APIs, integrations, enterprise systems, data and digital channels work together as a platform.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Systems Development & Customization — 50%
- Develop, customize, configure and support Apache Fineract/CBS, including lending and financial services capabilities.
- Develop and enhance internal applications and solutions that automate and digitize Inkomoko processes.
- Customize and integrate Odoo ERP, Fineract/CBS and other enterprise systems, working with internal teams, vendors and consultants.
- Develop APIs and integrations between Inkomoko systems and third-party platforms.
- Troubleshoot, test, upgrade and maintain existing applications and services.
- Contribute to an API-first and event-driven architecture, including services and integrations built around the CBS.
- Work with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Kafka and relational databases.
- Work with the Agile team to plan and deliver projects within agreed timelines and priorities.
- Proactively identify technical risks, dependencies and potential delivery issues.
Client-Facing Solutions & Application Development — 30%
- Develop and enhance client-facing digital solutions, including web, mobile, IVR and other channels.
- Build solutions that are simple, accessible and effective for users with varying levels of digital literacy and connectivity.
- Develop internal applications that improve staff productivity, communication and operational efficiency.
- Build integrations that enable Inkomoko technology platforms to communicate reliably with each other.
- Work with Business Analysts, Product Managers and Project Managers to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Apply Human-Centered Design principles when developing client and staff solutions.
Technology & Data Support — 20%
- Support reliable data flows across operational systems and the data platform.
- Work with the Data Engineering team to ensure quality data flows from systems such as KoboToolbox through operational databases and into reporting and analytics platforms.
- Troubleshoot ERP, CBS, application and integration issues.
- Coach and mentor junior developers and support the broader technology team.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and engineering practices.
- Provide other technical support as required.
